$AMZN is rolling out a new feature that lets customers shop by text message — sending requests to its Alexa for Shopping AI agent, which will search for products, compare options, and place orders on their behalf. The idea is to make shopping work more like messaging a personal assistant. Amazon says the agent works in the background after it receives a request or a photo, and texts back when the task is done. The text thread is also a new place for Amazon to sell. The company says order updates, delivery notifications, and deals will eventually land in the same conversation. Customers can also turn on auto-buy to have it purchase an item automatically when the price hits their target. It can also watch for price drops, reorder past purchases, and check on packages, and Amazon says a conversation started by text will carry over to the Amazon app, the website, and Alexa devices.

$AMZN has entered into a partnership with $UBER Eats to allow US Prime members to order restaurant meals directly through Amazon's app using their existing Amazon account and payment methods. The integration enables Prime users to access a vast selection of restaurants nationwide without the need for a separate Uber account, and there will be no delivery fee on orders over $25. The deal replaces a Prime perk with Grubhub which Amazon made an ongoing benefit in 2024 after a one-year trial. Amazon says Prime members could save more than $175 a year through the delivery fee waiver and Prime-only promotions, which it notes is more than the $139 annual cost of Prime (Note: service fees still apply). New users get $20 off their first 2 orders of $25 or more within 14 days, and Prime Visa cardholders earn 5% back on Uber Eats orders through Dec 5. Note: Amazon shut down its own Amazon Restaurants service in 2019, 4 years after launching it in Seattle and expanding to more than 20 US cities. The Uber deal is part of Amazon's broader push to add value to Prime. In Feb, Amazon made its Alexa+ AI assistant free for US Prime members.
