Veraxa Biotech Presents Initial BiTAC-ADC Data at World ADC Congress
Veraxa Biotech presented first in vivo proof-of-concept data and additional in vitro data validating its novel BiTAC-ADC technology platform at the 17th World ADC Congress in San Diego, California. The in vivo data demonstrate that a systemically applied, single dose of the two-component BiTAC-ADC selectively triggered a tumor-specific response resulting in a significant reduction in tumor volume, while continuing to show differentiated safety features and the potential to overcome systemic toxicity, the primary limitation of current ADCs. The in vivo data presented at the World ADC Congress showed that treatment with BiTAC-ADCs resulted in strong tumor regression in a xenograft breast cancer model even at a single dose of 3 mg/kg. As intended, BiTAC-ADCs utilizing one non-targeted component, thereby only delivering one component to the tumor, showed no significant effect. A control ADC, engineered by Veraxa using the same conjugation and linker-payload technology and with the same drug-antibody ratio as its BiTAC-ADC counterpart, performed similarly. In the BiTAC-ADC treatment arm, no decrease in body weight could be observed. The poster presented at the World ADC congress also expanded on previously published in vitro studies and shows that BiTAC-ADCs can discriminate between cancer and healthy cells, require both BiTAC-ADC constructs to be co-targeted to the tumor site and do not release active toxins in the periphery. The BiTAC-ADC concept was also successfully evaluated across a wide range of cancer cell lines and against several validated ADC targets. Taken together, the data sets underline the potential for this novel therapeutic concept with comparable efficacy to a conventional ADC, but a mechanistically highly differentiated safety profile.
Veraxa Biotech Updates FDA-Aligned Strategy
Veraxa Biotech provided an update on its strategy and progress to implement a suite of FDA aligned new approach methodologies, or NAMs, across its preclinical research and development programs, potentially enabling faster clinical advancement while significantly reducing animal testing. This strategic implementation positions Veraxa ahead of the FDA's 2025 roadmap, which encourages the phased reduction and ultimate replacement of animal testing in favor of human-relevant, non-animal and non-clinical test methods for developing safe and effective therapies. NAMs encompass a range of technologies, including cell-based assays, organ-on-chip systems, computational modeling and ex vivo tissue models, designed to more accurately predict human biological responses while reducing dependence on animal models. Beyond this regulatory alignment, the shift toward more sustainable and ethical research practices is also expected to reduce development costs and timelines, for example, by bypassing certain non-human primate toxicology studies traditionally required ahead of clinical development.
Veraxa Biotech Appoints Raju Willener as CFO
Veraxa Biotech announced the appointment of Raju Willener as CFO, effective immediately. Willener will report to Christoph Antz, CEO and co-founder.
Veraxa Biotech and Secarna Collaborate on Antibody Oligonucleotide Development
Veraxa Biotech and Secarna Pharmaceuticals announced initial results from their strategic research collaboration to develop next-generation antibody oligonucleotide conjugates for the treatment of autoimmune and chronic immune diseases. In early in vitro studies, an AOC candidate sourced by combining both parties' technologies and expertise demonstrated greater potency compared to the equivalent unconjugated, naked oligonucleotide, underlining the future therapeutic potential of the approach. Encouraged by these results, both parties are now discussing the next steps in this alliance.
Veraxa Biotech Advances VXA-222 Bispecific ADC Program
Veraxa Biotech (VRXA) announced the advancement of bispecific ADC program VXA-222, following successful achievement of a key technical milestone in its alliance with OmniAb (OABI). The program is moving into its next collaboration phase with OmniAb's discovery work concluded. VXA-222 utilizes an "AND-gate" logic to address two different target antigens present on solid tumors with one molecule. Established in May 2025, the alliance and joint discovery collaboration brought together OmniAb's suite of transgenic antibody discovery solutions and screening technologies with Veraxa Biotech's antibody drug conjugate linker technology and conjugation expertise to support next-generation therapeutic discovery. Under the terms of the May 2025 agreement, Veraxa Biotech initiated a novel bsADC program addressing two attractive target molecules in cancer medicine. The company utilized OmniAb's suite of transgenic antibody discovery solutions, including OmniClic, a common light-chain transgenic chicken developed to facilitate the generation of bispecific antibodies, to source high-quality human antibody leads, which are naturally optimized through in vivo affinity maturation. Veraxa Biotech will subsequently establish the bsADC lead candidate by applying its proprietary linker technology and conjugation routine and will be responsible for in vitro and in vivo validation. Veraxa Biotech holds exclusive rights to develop and commercialize products incorporating the OmniAb-derived antibodies under the collaboration, with OmniAb entitled to a share of specified revenue generated from those products.
