Korro Bio CEO: KRRO-121 to Begin Clinical Trials in H1 2027
"People living with urea cycle disorders face a constant risk of ammonia spikes that can cause lasting neurological harm, even with today's therapies," said Ram Aiyar, Chief Executive Officer and President of Korro Bio. "Initiating dosing in ANCHOR brings KRRO-121 a meaningful step closer to these patients, and we look forward to dosing participants with UCDs in the first half of 2027. In AATD, our preclinical data showing over 95% correction of the disease-causing transcripts gives us confidence as we prepare KRRO-111 for the clinic. Both programs reflect what our OPERA platform is intended to do: correct disease at the level of RNA, with the precision to generate the protein of interest and convenience of subcutaneous administration. We are focused on execution, with two GalNAc-delivered RNA-editing programs advancing toward clinical data, and a cash runway into the second half of 2028."
Korro Bio Doses First Cohort in KRRO-121 Clinical Trial
Korro Bio announced that the first cohort of participants has been dosed in its Phase 1/2 clinical trial for KRRO-121, the company's GalNAc-conjugated RNA-editing oligonucleotide in development for the potential treatment of hyperammonemia in patients with urea cycle disorders and patients with hepatic encephalopathy.
Korro Bio CEO Highlights Strategic Payoff, Advancing New Therapies
"The second quarter reflected the compounding payoff of a strategy we've been executing over several years," commented Ram Aiyar, Chief Executive Officer and President of Korro Bio. "Adding KRRO-111 for AATD and being on track to add a third GalNAc-conjugated program this year is testament to the evolution of OPERA, our proprietary RNA editing platform to more efficiently nominate therapeutic candidates. Moving forward our focus remains steadfast on executing our clinical and corporate growth strategy to bring transformational therapeutics to patients suffering from debilitating diseases."
Korro Bio Adds KRRO-111 for AATD Treatment
Korro Bio announced the addition of KRRO-111 for the potential treatment of AATD to its pipeline of therapeutic programs in development. KRRO-111 is a proprietary GalNAc-conjugated oligonucleotide that is delivered subcutaneously to the liver cells, where it is engineered to co-opt the hepatocytes' endogenous Adenosine Deaminase Acting on RNA enzyme and repair a pathogenic single nucleotide variant on AAT mRNA to restore production of normal AAT protein.
Korro Bio CEO: KRRO-121 Expected Regulatory Filing in H2 2026
"The first quarter marked significant scientific progress for Korro as we continued to advance our OPERA platform and build a pipeline of differentiated RNA editing medicines," commented Ram Aiyar, Chief Executive Officer and President of Korro Bio. "Our lead program, KRRO-121, remains on track for its regulatory filing in the second half of 2026, bringing us closer to delivering a potential first-in-class treatment for patients suffering from hyperammonemia in urea cycle disorders and hepatic encephalopathy. At the same time, our GalNAc-conjugated program for alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency achieved greater than 90% in vivo RNA editing, a result that reinforces the broad therapeutic potential of the OPERA platform and the first demonstration that close to 100% of RNA can be edited with an oligonucleotide. We are well capitalized following our oversubscribed private placement, which provides us with the resources to reach meaningful clinical milestones across multiple programs. On behalf of the entire Korro team, I wish to extend gratitude to all Korro stakeholders for their belief in the potential of our novel RNA editing platform to transform the treatment of debilitating diseases."
