EuroDry Signs Newbuilding Contract with Hengli Shipbuilding Worth Approximately $37M
EuroDry announced that it has signed a contract with Hengli Shipbuilding for the construction of a third 82,000 DWT Kamsarmax bulk carrier. The vessel will be built to an eco-design specification compliant with EEDI Phase 3 standards and is scheduled to be delivered during the third quarter of 2029. The total consideration for the newbuilding contract is approximately $37M and will be financed with a combination of debt and equity. The contract is conditional upon receiving a refund guarantee from a bank acceptable to the company.

Reports Q2 revenue $17.7M, consensus $19M. Aristides Pittas, Chairman and CEO of EuroDry commented: "We are pleased to report a highly profitable quarter, our strongest in four years. During the second quarter of 2026, the drybulk market strengthened significantly, with time charter rates reaching levels last seen in 2022. This positive momentum continued into July 2026 and is also reflected in Forward Freight Agreement rates for the remainder of 2026 and throughout 2027."

Aristides Pittas, chairman and CEO of EuroDry commented: "During the first quarter of 2026, a seasonally slow quarter, the drybulk market gave up very little ground as compared to the last quarter of last year. Additionally in April and May 2026, the market has firmed across the board with one-year time charter rates and trip earnings flirting and reaching $20,000 per day for both Ultramaxes and Kamsarmaxes."
