Pyxis Oncology Strengthens Financial Position with Q2 Financing
"The second quarter was marked by continued execution across the MICVO program and a financing that strengthened our balance sheet and extended our cash runway into the second quarter of 2027," said Tom Civik, Interim Chief Executive Officer and Director of Pyxis Oncology. "The additional capital gives us greater flexibility to incorporate longer patient follow-up and planned analyses into our next clinical updates. We expect to report updated monotherapy data in second-line and beyond recurrent/metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (2L+ R/M HNSCC) this fall, followed by updated first-line combination data with pembrolizumab in the fourth quarter. We remain focused on generating the clinical evidence needed to evaluate MICVO's potential to address the significant unmet need in head and neck cancer, regardless of HPV status or prior therapy."
Pyxis Oncology Completes $50M Private Placement Financing
Pyxis Oncology announced that it has entered into definitive securities purchase agreements for a private placement expected to result in gross proceeds of approximately $50M, before deducting placement agent fees and offering expenses, and an additional approximately $64M of gross proceeds if the accompanying warrants are exercised in full for cash. The financing was led by BVF Partners L.P. with participation from GordonMD Global Investments, RTW Investments, and Coastlands Capital. The upfront proceeds are expected to extend the company's cash runway into the second quarter of 2027 and support the continued advancement of its lead clinical program, MICVO, through key clinical milestones. Under the terms of the financing, Pyxis Oncology has agreed to sell 19,600,153 shares of its common stock at a price of $2.551 per share and warrants to purchase an equal number of shares of common stock. The common stock warrants have an exercise price of $3.289 per share and are exercisable in accordance with their terms. The private placement is expected to close on or about July 2. Wells Fargo Securities acted as sole placement agent for the private placement.
Pyxis Oncology to Update MICVO Data Mid-2026
"Our team's exceptional clinical and operational execution in the first quarter of 2026, combined with growing investigator enthusiasm for MICVO's potential to positively impact the lives of patients with cancer, has positioned us to deliver key milestones for the MICVO program this year," said Tom Civik, Interim Chief Executive Officer and Director of Pyxis Oncology. "We remain on track to share updated monotherapy data in mid-year 2026 and updated combination data in the second half of 2026. The mid-year 2026 monotherapy update will focus on 2L+ R/M HNSCC patients treated at or below a dose cap, which we implemented in December 2025. The goal of moving to a dose cap was to maintain MICVO's strong efficacy profile while improving safety and tolerability. In the Phase 1/2 dose escalation combination study with pembrolizumab, we have refined our focus to 1L R/M HNSCC patients. We believe these two datasets will help establish MICVO's broad potential as a novel ADC for patients with difficult-to-treat cancers and substantial unmet need."
Pyxis Oncology Presents New Data Showing MICVO Effective in Head and Neck Cancer Model
Pyxis Oncology announced that it will present new preclinical data highlighting that a mouse analogue of MICVO demonstrates anti-tumor activity in a preclinical head and neck squamous cell carcinoma model as monotherapy, and synergistic anti-tumor activity in combination with anti-mouse PD-1. These data will be presented in a poster session at the American Association for Cancer Research Annual Meeting 2026 in San Diego, California, held April 17 - April 22. "These new preclinical data are particularly compelling as they further reinforce MICVO's clinical development in HNSCC, both as a novel monotherapy treatment and in combination with anti-PD-1," said Tom Civik, interim CEO of Pyxis Oncology. "An important finding from the data is that combination treatment with maMICVO and anti-mouse PD-1 demonstrated synergistic anti-tumor activity and greater tumor control than either treatment alone in an immunotherapy-refractory preclinical HNSCC model, highlighting MICVO's novel three-pronged mechanism of action and its potential to meaningfully enhance response to immunotherapy. Following our mid-year 2026 MICVO Phase 1 monotherapy update in 2L+ R/M HNSCC, we look forward to sharing updated data from the ongoing Phase 1/2 combination dose escalation study of MICVO in combination with pembrolizumab for 1L/2L+ R/M HNSCC patients in the second half of 2026."
