Unicycive Therapeutics OLC NDA Resubmission Accepted by FDA
Unicycive Therapeutics announced that the FDA has accepted the resubmission of its new drug application, or NDA, for oxylanthanum carbonate, or OLC, the company's investigational oral phosphate binder for the treatment of hyperphosphatemia in patients with chronic kidney disease, or CKD, on dialysis. The NDA was resubmitted following a complete response letter, or CRL, received in June. The FDA has deemed the OLC resubmission a Class II with a six-month review period from the resubmission date, and set a Prescription Drug User Fee Act target action date of March 25, 2027.

Unicycive Therapeutics Resubmits NDA for Oxylanthanum Carbonate
Unicycive Therapeutics announced the resubmission of its New Drug Application, NDA, for oxylanthanum carbonate, OLC, the Company's investigational oral phosphate binder for the treatment of hyperphosphatemia in patients with chronic kidney disease, CKD, on dialysis. The Company anticipates United States Food and Drug Administration, FDA, acceptance of the NDA within 30 days and a new assigned PDUFA date to be six months from the date of resubmission. The NDA resubmission includes CMC data from a new third-party drug product manufacturing vendor. The NDA is supported by data from three clinical studies: a Phase 1 study in healthy volunteers, a bioequivalence study in healthy volunteers, and a tolerability study of OLC in CKD patients on dialysis, along with multiple preclinical studies and CMC data. As of June 30, 2026, unaudited cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities totaled $61.4M, supporting continued OLC commercial launch preparation and an expected cash runway into the second half of 2027.
Unicycive CEO Says OLC Application Progressing Well
"We are focused on securing approval of oxylanthanum carbonate and remain confident in the efficacy and safety of OLC and in its potential to improve care for patients with hyperphosphatemia on dialysis," said Shalabh Gupta, Chief Executive Officer of Unicycive. "The latest update from our third-party manufacturing vendor is that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has assigned a facility inspection. This marks a positive step forward, and our dialogue with the FDA on OLC labeling and packaging has been productive and continuous throughout this process. We are optimistic about a successful inspection of the third-party manufacturing facility, which would enable us to promptly resubmit the NDA. In the meantime, we are well positioned to launch OLC as quickly as possible following potential approval, and we are utilizing this time to continue to expand market awareness in preparation for the commercial success of OLC."
