HPQ Silicon Signs Cell Evaluation Agreement with Aptera Motors

HPQ Silicon is pleased to announce that HPQ Silicon, through its HPQ ENDURA+ battery initiative, together with its French technology partner Novacium SAS, has signed a Cell Evaluation and Confidentiality Agreement with Aptera Motors. Under the agreement, Aptera will evaluate HPQ ENDURA+ high-capacity 21700 lithium-ion cells based on Novacium's silicon-based anode materials and related cell technology. Aptera Motors Lowers Production Funding Need to $25M

Aptera Motors announced that it now estimates it needs approximately $25M to reach start of production, down from $40M-$45M, and approximately $115M for its full plan through high-volume production, down from $180M-$205M. The estimated reductions primarily reflect anticipated benefits of the Company's previously announced partnership with Launch Design. "This is a fundamentally leaner path to getting Aptera into customers' hands. We've reduced our estimated capital requirements to reach production and brought what we believe could be a self-sustaining business within much closer reach," said Chris Anthony, Co-CEO of Aptera. "By redesigning the Aptera for manufacturability and tapping Launch Design's international supplier network, we believe we are pursuing one of the more capital-efficient paths to production in the EV industry."

The partnership covers a production program valued at up to approximately $44M at current exchange rates, spanning assembly fixtures and tooling, vehicle testing, pilot production, and high-volume production work. Those first fixtures and parts are for Aptera's first 40 production vehicles, which the companies are aiming to begin building in the fourth quarter of 2026.
