Dare Bioscience Initiates Phase 2 Study of DARE-HPV
Dare Bioscience announced the initiation of its Phase 2 clinical study of DARE-HPV, an investigational, proprietary fixed-dose formulation of lopinavir and ritonavir in a soft gel vaginal insert, designed to evaluate DARE-HPV as a potential treatment for persistent high-risk human papillomavirus infection.
Dare Bioscience Reports Positive Interim Results for Ovaprene Clinical Trial
Dare Bioscience announced positive interim safety and efficacy results from its ongoing Phase 3 clinical trial evaluating Ovaprene, its investigational monthly, hormone-free intravaginal contraceptive. The trial's independent data safety monitoring board conducted a planned interim analysis and recommended the study continue without modification. Interim data show approximately 9% of the women treated experienced a pregnancy, consistent with expectations. No new types of adverse events or tolerability concerns were identified. "We are encouraged by these interim results and this second positive DSMB review," said Sabrina Martucci Johnson, president and CEO of Dare Bioscience. "Millions of women in the U.S. are seeking effective, hormone-free birth control, and Ovaprene has the potential to address a significant unmet need and transform the contraceptive landscape. We look forward to advancing toward the primary endpoint analysis as we complete the study."
Dare Bioscience Receives $2 Million NIH Funding
Dare Bioscience announced receipt of a revised Notice of Award from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, a division of the National Institutes of Health, relating to the approximately $2.0 million funding award for DARE-PTB1, Dare's investigational intravaginal ring for the prevention of preterm birth. The notice, issued March 11, 2026, extends the budget and project period for the second tranche of the award, or approximately $1.0 million, through November 30, 2026. The total NIH funding obligated under the program is approximately $2.0 million. DARE-PTB1 is a novel, investigational IVR designed to deliver bio-identical progesterone continuously for up to a 14-day period. It is being developed to reduce the risk of preterm birth in at-risk women, a condition for which there are currently no FDA-approved treatments.
