Aligos Therapeutics Q2 Revenue $27.78M, Exceeds Expectations
Reports Q2 revenue $27.78M, consensus $13.18M. "Our team has continued to execute on our key strategic priorities to advance our pipeline this year," stated Lawrence Blatt, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Aligos Therapeutics. "We strengthened our financial position through non-dilutive capital, including the $25M upfront payment related to the exclusive Greater China license for pevifoscorvir sodium. In addition, our partner Amoytop has advanced our potential best-in-class ASO for chronic HBV infection, bringing the program through IND approval in China, resulting in a $3M milestone payment. Pevifoscorvir sodium continues to make significant progress, highlighted by the completion of enrollment for the Phase 2 B-SUPREME study and the receipt of Breakthrough Designation in China for chronic HBV infection. As we look ahead to topline data from the B-SUPREME study which is expected in late Q3 next year, we remain confident that our differentiated pipeline has the potential to meaningfully reduce the burden of end-stage liver disease and liver cancer, the main goal of chronic HBV infection treatment."
Aligos Therapeutics Completes Enrollment in B-SUPREME Study
Aligos Therapeutics announced that it has completed enrollment of both the HBeAg+ and HBeAg- participants in the Phase 2 B-SUPREME study of pevifoscorvir sodium, under development for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus infection. Topline safety and efficacy data are expected to be available in late third quarter of 2027.
Large-Cap Growth Stocks Shine, Crinetics Pharmaceuticals Up 100%
Risk-on sentiment resurfaced following the long holiday weekend as large-cap growth areas of the market handily outperformed SMIDs and value. Comms Services, Tech, and Financials were the best performing sectors on the S&P 500, while the defensively oriented Healthcare, Staples, and Utilities lagged. Computer Hardware had an especially strong day - Arista Networkswas up 8.3%, Western Digitalgained 7.1% and Seagaterallied 5.9%. A softer than expected non-farm payrolls dented expectations of tightening, but that narrative was also defied by the price action in the Treasury market as yields on the short-end of the curve remained elevated while longer-dated maturities remain elevated. Service ISM data also came in softer somewhat, though the indicator remained in expansion - as it has for the past two years. In the evening hours, equity index futures are mixed - S&P e-minis are flat while Nasdaq 100 is off by 0.2%. In commodities, WTI Crude Oil is marginally higher but still below $70 per barrel while precious and base metals are up by about 0.2%.Check out this evening's top movers from around Wall Street, compiled by The Fly.HIGHER -Crinetics Pharmaceuticalsup 100% after being acquired by Vertex Pharmaceuticals, which is down 2.3%Aligos Therapeuticsup 14.9% after receiving a $25M upfront payment for pevifoscorvir sodium license dealFirst Solarup 2.1% after being upgraded to buy at Deutsche BankRentokil Initial plcup 1.9% after being upgraded to Buy at Goldman SachsAbbVieup 0.3% after Q2 pre-announcementLOWER -Riviandown 8.8% after 75M share equity offering.
Aligos Therapeutics Receives $25M Upfront Payment
Aligos Therapeutics announced that it has received the upfront payment of $25M from the exclusive license deal of pevifoscorvir sodium in Greater China with Xiamen Amoytop Biotech. In addition, pevifoscorvir sodium was granted Breakthrough Therapy Designation from the Center for Drug Evaluation of China's National Medical Products Administration. Under the terms of the agreement, Aligos is also eligible to receive up to $420M in clinical, regulatory, and sales milestones along with tiered, high single-digit royalties on net sales in Amoytop's licensed territories. Aligos retains all development and commercialization rights for pevifoscorvir sodium in the United States, Europe, South Korea, Japan, and all other markets.
Aligos Therapeutics Presents New Data at EASL 2026 Congress
Aligos Therapeutics announced data from ten presentations at the European Association for the Study of the Liver, or EASL, Congress 2026, being held May 27 - 30 in Barcelona, Spain. Newly presented data highlight outcomes for treatment-naive or currently not treated HBeAg+ subjects who completed 96 weeks of 300 mg pevifoscorvir sodium monotherapy, followed by 24 weeks of nucleostide analog monotherapy. Among HBeAg+ subjects, 9 of 10 subjects transitioned to NA monotherapy; of these, four maintained HBV DNA levels below the lower limit of quantification throughout the NA only 24 week follow-up period. Reductions in HBV antigens and HBV RNA were maintained during the NA only 24 week follow-up period. Notably, these viral biomarkers, such as HBV antigens and HBV RNA, are typically unaffected by NA therapy, suggesting that pevifoscorvir sodium may reduce the cccDNA reservoir through engagement of its secondary mechanism of action. In addition, newly presented data showed that among participants with a baseline HBsAg of 3,000 IU/mL, 40% achieved HBsAg less than 3,000 IU/mL at 48 weeks, suggesting eligibility for a functional cure regimen, which may include an antisense oligonucleotide agent. In clinical trials conducted to date, certain ASO agents under development for chronic HBV infection have seen 20%-30% functional cure rates in a patient population of HBsAg less than 3,000 IU/mL. Additionally, preclinical in vitro data demonstrated that long-term treatment with ALG-001075, the active parent moiety of pevifoscorvir sodium, resulted in profound suppression of HBeAg, HBsAg and intracellular HBV RNAs which was durable after treatment withdrawal in HBV-infected HepaRG cells, suggesting a potential reduction in cccDNA level and/or transcriptional activity. The preclinical posters showcased Aligos' and its collaborators' continued innovation and commitment to advancing next-generation therapies in the liver and viral spaces with presentations spanning novel approaches and mechanistic insights. In particular, an analog of ALG-170675, an antisense oligonucleotide, demonstrated an additive to synergistic effect when combined in vitro and in vivo with ALG-001075, the active parent moiety of pevifoscorvir sodium. Additionally, in vitro data from the hepatitis delta virus program demonstrates how the novel approach of targeting HDV replication could be a valuable addition to the current therapeutic arsenal.
