Cardiol Therapeutics Announces Enrollment Progress in MAVERIC Trial
Cardiol Therapeutics announced enrollment progress and plans to expand MAVERIC, the Company's pivotal Phase III randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multi-center trial evaluating CardiolRx for the reduction in risk of recurrence in patients with recurrent pericarditis. As of September 23, 2026, 110 patients have been enrolled in MAVERIC, achieving the Company's original recruitment target ahead of its end-of-September guidance. "A blinded review of events in MAVERIC patients who have been randomized 1:1 to either CardiolRx or placebo shows a lower level of pericarditis recurrence than anticipated, an observation we view as encouraging, particularly as we are not aware of changes in routine clinical practice that would explain this finding," said David Elsley, CEO. "Our planned enrollment expansion is designed to support the event count needed to preserve the trial's planned statistical power and deliver a more robust assessment of CardiolRx's efficacy. Topline results are now anticipated in mid-2027, compared with our previous Q1 2027 guidance. With our cash runway extending into Q1 2028, we are in a strong position to complete MAVERIC and deliver this important clinical readout."
Cardiol Therapeutics Files $150M Financing Application
Cardiol Therapeutics announced that it has filed a preliminary short form base shelf prospectus with the securities regulatory authorities in each of the provinces and territories of Canada, together with a corresponding registration statement on Form F-10 with the United States SEC under the U.S./Canada Multijurisdictional Disclosure System. Once a receipt has been issued for the final short form base shelf prospectus and the Registration Statement has become effective, the filings will permit Cardiol to offer and sell, from time to time during the 25-month period the final short form base shelf prospectus remains effective, Class A common shares, debt securities, warrants, subscription receipts, units, or any combination of such securities, having an aggregate initial offering price of up to $150M, or the equivalent in other currencies.
Cardiol Therapeutics Publishes Phase II MAvERIC Study Results
Cardiol Therapeutics announced the publication of its Phase II MAvERIC study results in the Journal of the American Heart Association, or JAHA. The publication comes as the pivotal Phase III MAVERIC trial nears full patient enrollment. The publication describes clinical findings in which CardiolRx was associated with rapid and sustained reductions in pericarditis pain and inflammation in patients with a high baseline disease burden. The study also reported substantial reductions in pericarditis episodes per year and a favorable safety and tolerability profile. Together, these findings provide the clinical rationale for MAVERIC, a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, pivotal Phase III trial evaluating CardiolRx for reducing the risk of pericarditis recurrence.
Cardiol Therapeutics Expands MAVERIC Trial to Seven Clinical Centers
Cardiol Therapeutics announced the continued expansion of its pivotal Phase III MAVERIC trial in the U.S., with the planned activation of up to seven additional clinical centers. Patient enrollment in MAVERIC surpassed the 50% threshold in early January and has now reached 75%. Target recruitment is anticipated by the end of Q2, with the potential to extend into Q3 to accommodate patient enrollment from additional clinical sites. MAVERIC is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled pivotal Phase III trial evaluating CardiolRx for the prevention of disease recurrence in patients with recurrent pericarditis. The study is designed to enroll approximately 110 patients. MAVERIC was designed with input from the FDA, with alignment on trial design achieved at an end-of-Phase II meeting in April 2025. The first patient was randomized at Northwestern University in April 2025. MAVERIC builds on the clinical evidence established in the Phase II MAvERIC study, which demonstrated that CardiolRx produced rapid and sustained reductions in pericarditis pain and inflammation, along with a substantial decrease in recurrent episodes per year.
