Bell Canada Signs Quantum Technology MOU with Universite de Sherbrooke

Welcome to the latest edition of "Quantum Leap" where The Fly decodes news and activity in the quantum computing space.QUANTUM MOU:Bell Canadaand the Universite de Sherbrooke, or UdeS, signed a memorandum of understanding, or MOU, to collaborate on quantum technologies, post-quantum cybersecurity, and sustainable data center infrastructure. The agreement builds on Bell's ongoing work to advance sovereign compute capacity and support the development and deployment of AI at scale in Canada through Bell AI Fabric. As part of this collaboration, Bell and UdeS will also partner with Queen's University to explore approaches to link the national high-performance computing environment with frontier quantum capabilities to support Canadian research, enterprise and public sector applications.CODEVELOPMENT PACT:Sealsqand GlobalFoundriesannounced a strategic memorandum of understanding to co-develop across secure semiconductor platforms, post-quantum cryptography, or PQC, and emerging semiconductor-based quantum computing technologies. The partnership leverages GF's process technology and manufacturing capabilities alongside Sealsq's expertise in hardware-based certified security, PQC-ready silicon solutions and ongoing investments in quantum technologies. The collaboration will focus on developing post-quantum cryptography security IP, secure chiplet architectures, and a CryoCMOS ecosystem to support future quantum computing systems.HALOCENE H4:The Lumi AI Factory has selected IQM Quantum Computersto deliver IQM Halocene H4, an advanced quantum computer aimed at accelerating hybrid high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, and quantum computing capabilities. The company said, "IQM Halocene H4 is the first and most advanced on-premises superconducting quantum computer of its kind, combining quantum error correction with NISQ qubits. The system will be delivered in 2027, followed by a series of upgrades delivered in multiple phases with an increasing number of logical qubits. The IQM Halocene H4 and the upgraded systems will enable LUMI consortium users, for the first time, to develop and implement Quantum Error Correction concepts on a world-leading system. The system will be used in joint R&D efforts towards fault-tolerant quantum computing and advancements in hybrid computing. This will support new inventions on the critical path to fault-tolerant quantum computing and to enable new commercialization opportunities. This forward-looking development path ensures that European users can experiment today while preparing for fully scalable quantum platforms tomorrow. The system will also provide European end-users with the high-performance quantum computing resources needed for research and innovation, and for building national know-how and expertise."COMPLETED:BTQ Technologieshas completed the acquisition of QPerfect SA, a French quantum computing company based in Strasbourg specializing in quantum software, emulation, digital twin capabilities, and control systems.PRELIMINARY RESULTS:Sealsq reported preliminary Q2 revenue of $7M and first half revenue of $11M vs. $5M last year. As of June 30, cash and short-term investments stand at approximately $495M. The company said, "The 120% year-over-year revenue increase in H1 2026 was driven primarily by the strong growth in the demand for our Vault-IC secure element product family. In addition, H1 2026 included six months of consolidated revenues from IC'ALPS SAS, which was acquired in August 2025. Additional contributions came from continued growth in PKI subscription contracts as customers expand digital identity and certificate deployments, and initial revenues from the Quantix Edge Security semiconductor design center in Murcia, Spain." Sealsq reaffirmed its previously communicated FY26 revenue guidance, with revenue expected to grow between 50% and 100% year-over-year relative to audited FY25 revenue of $18.3M. Carlos Moreira, CEO of Sealsq noted, "The first half of 2026 was an important inflection point for SEALSQ. We delivered approximately 120% year-over-year revenue growth, completed the acquisition of Miraex SA to add quantum photonics interconnect capabilities, increased our ownership in Wecan Group to a majority position, and participated as a lead investor in Quobly's EUR 115 million Series A round alongside STMicroelectronics. Together, these steps strengthen our position as a vertically integrated, sovereign-focused post-quantum security and quantum technology company, from silicon-level roots-of-trust through to quantum compute and orbital delivery. With QS7001 advancing through its final certification milestones, and a growing commercial pipeline, we believe we have the capital, technology and ecosystem required to lead in the post-quantum era."GOVERNMENT LAB:Qtrex Quantumnoted that a U.S. Government lab conducting quantum computing programs is actively operating the company's AME system. The operational use places the company's technology inside a U.S. federal quantum and advanced-microelectronics development environment, providing the lab with direct access to the unique capabilities enabled by the company's AME platform.ANALYST COMMENTARY:Canaccord initiated coverage of Infleqtionwith a Buy rating and $22 price target, which offers 70% upside from current levels. The company's neutral atom approach offers "compelling scaling and error-correction flexibility," the analyst told investors in a research note. Canaccord believes Infleqtion has "scarcity value" as the only pure-play neutral-atom listed U.S. company. It added that the company's software and component businesses strengthen the platform and diversify exposure.
