U.S. Stock Futures Slightly Lower, Focus on Fed Policy Speech
Stock futures are slightly lower Friday after Thursday's AI-driven rally as attention turns to Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's first major policy speech at the Jackson Hole symposium. Investors are looking for clarity on the Fed's reaction to inflation that remains above its 2% target, a softer labor market and unusually high long-term Treasury yields. Markets are currently pricing about a 36% probability of a September rate hike. The Treasury market remains a major risk. Long-term yields have risen sharply in recent weeks, with the 30-year yield near levels last seen in 2007. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's expanded bond-buyback program has attempted to ease pressure at the long end of the curve, but investors remain concerned about inflation, government borrowing and the fiscal outlook. In pre-market trading, S&P 500 futures rose 0.08%, Nasdaq futures fell 0.13% and Dow futures rose 0.15%.Check out this morning's top movers from around Wall Street, compiled by The Fly.UP AFTER EARNINGS -Elasticup 24%Gapup 18%Affirmup 12%DOWN AFTER EARNINGS -Marvelldown 7%Minisodown 4%Rubrikdown 4%Autodeskdown 3%Chageedown 3%LOWER -PayPaldown 14% after Bloomberga consortium of Advent and Stripe are abandoning a pursuit of the companyCytokinetics (CYTK) down 2% after announcing the primary results from ACACIA-HCM, the Phase 3 clinical trial of aficamten in patients with symptomatic non-obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
Nvidia's Strong Earnings Boost Tech Stocks
Eight out of 11 S&P 500 sectors finished the day in the red on Thursday, and yet the benchmark index registered a positive session thanks to broad-based strength seen across the Technology sector. Consumer names - cyclical and staples - were the worst performing areas of the market, followed closely by the recent out-performer Healthcare.Nvidia'searnings and constructive outlook for next year reported overnight re-established the AI capex buildout as the dominant theme driving market sentiment, sending shares of the preeminent chip designer up 9% to its highest level since the first week of June. Concurrently, blowout earnings out of Salesforce, along with the company's announcement of a deeper partnership with Anthropic, strained the bearish thesis of a "SaaS-pocalypse" that has haunted enterprise software space since early weeks of this year. For quite some time, Software stocks have traded antithetically to the pro-AI-capex areas of the market - semiconductors, semi equipment, memory, and hardware - yet today, the two themes surged in step. iShares Software Sector ETF (IGV) was up nearly 8% on the day, rising to its best levels of the year. In turn, the popular proxy Semiconductor ETF- where Nvidia holds a 20% contribution - was up over 3% on the day.In the opening hour of the evening session, S&P e-minis are down 0.2% while Nasdaq Composite is off by 0.3%, with Thursday's positive sentiment somewhat diffused by relatively in-line results from Marvell Technology. Traders are also on edge heading into Friday's Jackson Hole address by Kevin Warsh, with markets preparing to dissect the speech for clues on the new Fed Chair's thinking about persistent inflation, resilient labor market, and the recent pressure in the longer-dated Treasury market.Check out this evening's top movers from around Wall Street, compiled by The Fly.HIGHER AFTER EARNINGS -Elastic N.V.up 20.4%The Gapup 14.7%Affirm Holdingsup 8.8%Workdayup 0.3%DOWN AFTER EARNINGS -LifeVantagedown 9.9%IREN Limiteddown 7.4%Marvell Technologydown 5.9%Rubrikdown 5.9%Autodeskdown 5.0%SentinelOnedown 3.9%Ulta Beautydown 3.0%PagerDutydown 1.8%

Autodesk Q2 Revenue $2.05B, Exceeds Expectations
Reports Q2 revenue $2.05B, consensus $2.01B. "AI turns connected data and context into actionable project intelligence that can ease endemic capacity constraints, raise the bar on what's possible in the physical world, and help our customers do more with scarce resources," said CEO Andrew Anagnost. "Autodesk is uniquely positioned because we build project intelligence across the asset lifecycle by converging design, make, and operate through a continuous flow of data, context, and experience." "We delivered strong Q2 results with consistent execution and momentum. Our sales reorganization is proceeding as expected," said Janesh Moorjani, CFO. "We have increased our FY27 billings and revenue growth guidance to reflect higher underlying growth expectations, as well as the incremental contribution from MaintainX. Our FY27 non-GAAP margin guidance is unchanged, reflecting higher underlying margins from operating leverage and benefits from our go-to-market optimization, offset by margin dilution from the MaintainX acquisition. We've narrowed our fiscal 27 free cash flow expectations reflecting stronger underlying expectations offset by the operating and net financing costs for MaintainX and including approximately $45M of transaction expenses related to the MaintainX acquisition."
