CPI Exceeds Expectations, Market Sentiment Holds Steady
Following yesterday's hotter-than-expected CPI print, wholesale PPI inflation also came in well above expectations, and yet investor sentiment is holding up well as market fears shift away from concerns over a "rate shock" due to tighter monetary policy and toward a "growth scare" as the AI buildout pillar of the economy is looking more wobbly. After opening lower, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite both eked out gains by the close, while the less-Tech-concentrated Dow jumped over 1%.In Technology, traders continued to sell semiconductors, communication equipment, and computer hardware in droves, but the proceeds were rotated into "anti-AI" areas of the market such as Enterprise Software and IT Services. The worst performing sector in the S&P 500 this year - Consumer Cyclicals - was one of the best sectors today as traders bid up heavily-sold names like Lululemonand Nike, both of which were up 5%.In fixed income, rotation from corporates amid Coreweavedebt scare into the safety of the Treasuries - where the yield on the 10-year note dropped another 10 basis points despite the hot inflation prints - also benefited the heavily sold rate-sensitive market areas such as REITs and Homebuilders. Names like Lennar, which had just marked a four-year low overnight, jumped 6% on Thursday, while its peers DR Hortonand KB Homewere bid up by over 4%.Sentiment remains fragile in the opening hour of the evening session. S&P e-minis are down 0.1% and the Nasdaq 100 contract is off by 0.3%. Futures traders will look to the AI-overindexed Korea's Kospi for direction while also monitoring the testimony of Fed Chair Kevin Warsh at the IMF summit in Bangkok this evening.Check out this evening's top movers from around Wall Street, compiled by The Fly.HIGHER AFTER EARNINGS -Independent Bankup 2.5%Cohen & Steersup 1.9%Alcoaup 1.1%Wise Groupup 1.0%ALSO HIGHER -Semtechup 2.1% after positive Q3 pre-announcementDOWN AFTER EARNINGS -J.B. mdxhealth CEO Comments Q3 Revenue Fell Short of Expectations
Michael McGarrity, CEO of mdxhealth, commented: "Third quarter revenue fell short of our expectations. Following the discontinuation of Resolve mdx, we experienced unexpected turnover within our sales force catalyzed by aggressive targeting from recruiters. While we have a disciplined process which has served as the foundation of our forecast accuracy over the past three years, that process was clearly disrupted by this recent impact on our sales force."
Company Expects to Return to Growth in Q3
The company said, "Although this led to an interruption in the progress we reported in Q2, we are focused on fortifying impacted territories and returning to consistent execution. Importantly, we do not believe these factors represent a change in the reputation that we have built with our customer base, the underlying clinical demand for our products, or our long-term market opportunity, and we expect to return to growth within these end markets. We will provide additional detail on our corrective actions and progress when we report our full third quarter results and host our earnings call on November 12."
mdxhealth Q2 Revenue Reaches $27.21M
Reports Q2 revenue $27.21M vs. $23.39M last year. Michael K. McGarrity, CEO of mdxhealth, commented: "We delivered sequential revenue growth of $3.3 million from Q1 to Q2, establishing a clear path toward meeting or exceeding our 2026 revenue guidance of $110-115 million, which represents 20-26% growth over 2025 (excluding Resolve). Importantly, the commercial team's successful transition of all our Resolve customers by June 30, coupled with the integration of the ExoDx business and our sales force restructuring over the past two quarters, is reflected in the strong recovery of our tissue-based business in Q2."
Mdxhealth Receives Compliance Notification from Nasdaq
Mdxhealth announced that the company received an additional notification letter from Nasdaq related to the recent reduction in the price for the company's ordinary shares. The initial notice, reported by the company in its Form 6-K filed on July 2, related to the company's non-compliance with the $1.00 Minimum Bid Price requirement set forth in Nasdaq Listing Rule 5550 for continued listing. The supplemental letter notified the company that it is not in compliance with the minimum market value requirement set forth in rules for continued listing on Nasdaq.
