Compass Sues California's Largest Real Estate Service
Compass sued California's largest real estate listing service, California Regional Multiple Listing Service, in a Los Angeles federal court on Friday, claiming anticompetitive rules, Leah Nylen and Paulina Cachero of Bloomberg report. Compass alleged the requirement that agents list homes for sale within one business day or face fines violates U.S. antitrust laws, according to Bloomberg.
Chicago Judge Lifts Zillow Access Order, Compass Shares Rise
Chicago District Judge John Tharp dissolved a previous order that required multiple listings service provider Midwest Real Estate Data to temporarily maintain Zillow's access to listings, Leah Nylen and Paulina Cachero of Bloomberg report. Tharp ordered Zillow to engage in arbitration over its listings contract with Chicago's Midwest Real Estate Data. Bloomberg says the ruling is a key win for Compass (COMP). Zillow attempted to to exclude Compass listings from its site, but the Midwest Real Estate Data said that violated their terms, Bloomberg notes. Shares of Compass are up 10c to $10.46 while Zillow is down 47c to $32.71.

Compass Q2 Revenue Reaches $4.31B, Exceeds Expectations
Reports Q2 revenue $4.31B, consensus $4.11B. Q2 EPS includes depreciation and amortization of $153M, non-cash stock-based compensation expense of $38M and $34M in merger transaction and integration expenses. "Compass delivered very strong Q2 results, with Revenue and Adjusted EBITDA surpassing the high-end of our guidance range, driven by broad business strength and the successful realization of our cost synergies" said Robert Reffkin, Founder and CEO. Reffkin added, "in Q2, our outperformance versus the industry accelerated, with Brokerage Gross Transaction Value up 15.9% year-over-year on a pro forma basis, compared to market volumes that were up 6% year-over-year, reflecting approximately 1,000 basis points of GTV outperformance compared to 580 basis points of outperformance in Q1 2026. Additionally, Brokerage transactions were up 7.4% year-over-year on a pro forma basis compared to market transactions up 3.5% year-over-year, reflecting 390 basis points of outperformance compared to the 240 basis points of outperformance in Q1 2026. For 21 consecutive quarters, spanning our entire history as a public company, our Brokerage has outperformed the market on an organic basis for the Compass standalone brand, and now for two consecutive quarters, including Anywhere."
