Virgin Galactic Names New Spaceship Apeiron
Virgin Galactic announced the name of its new Spaceship will be Apeiron. "Apeiron, the Boundless, captures the ambition of human spaceflight and the possibilities it opens for humanity. The extraordinary response to the public vote made choosing this name even more meaningful. We're proud that the lead ship in Virgin Galactic's Spaceship fleet will carry a name chosen by the people who share our excitement for what comes next," said Michael Colglazier, Chief Executive Officer of Virgin Galactic.
Virgin Galactic Announces Lead Spaceship to Fly to New Mexico on October 28
Virgin Galactic "announced that the lead Spaceship of its next-generation fleet is set to fly to its operations base at Spaceport America, New Mexico on October 28. The Spaceship, mated to launch vehicle Eve for a captive-carry flight, will depart the company's Spaceship Factory in Mesa, Arizona. The arrival marks the transition from vehicle assembly to the start of flight test preparations. Earlier that day, Virgin Galactic will reveal the Spaceship's name, chosen by public vote with participants from more than 80 countries from a shortlist developed by Virgin Galactic teammates and members of its astronaut community. The lead Spaceship's first commercial spaceflight is now expected in early Q2 2027, and the second Spaceship is expected to begin commercial spaceflight operations in late Q2/early Q3 2027. The updated timeline reflects additional time for completing avionics software integration and validation, which uses an exhaustive testing process. That testing will conclude at Spaceport America as the lead Spaceship is readied for its flight test series."
Virgin Galactic Signs Cooperative Research Agreement with Air Force Laboratory
Virgin Galactic announced a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement, CRADA, with the Air Force Research Laboratory's, AFRL, Space Warfare Directorate at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico - the Department of the Air Force's primary organization for space environment research and technology development. The 24-month agreement will explore the use of Virgin Galactic's next-generation Spaceship to capture space weather data and accelerate understanding of its effects on space-based infrastructure. Under the agreement, researchers will evaluate the integration of sensor systems with Virgin Galactic's Spaceship to collect space weather data during flight.

Company Reports Q2 Revenue of $100,000, Below Expectations
Reports Q2 revenue $100,000, consensus $126,670. CEO Michael Colglazier said, "Our tranche of spaceflight expeditions priced at $750,000 was oversubscribed and booked out ahead of schedule, demonstrating strong demand from a wide range of customers. We expect to release a new tranche of spaceflight expeditions at higher price points this fall. Our first ship is now expected to enter commercial service in February 2027 rather than the fourth quarter of 2026, allowing additional time to complete avionics and systems installations. We expect to commence the flight test phase with this vehicle in October, and with our second spaceship planned to join the fleet in March 2027, we expect to deliver positive quarterly cash flow within 2027."
