Italy's CISL Union Says Pfizer's Catania Plant to Lay Off 330 Workers
In a statement, CISL, a national trade union in Italy, said, "The meeting held yesterday afternoon at the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy on the dispute at the Pfizer plant in Catania ended with a negative outcome. The pharmaceutical multinational has confirmed the definitive closure of the penicillin department and the start of collective redundancies for about 330 workers out of a workforce of 550 employees, at the end of the procedure provided for in December by Law 234/2021. The company has also ruled out new development investments to reabsorb staff, limiting interventions to the maintenance and digitization of the sterile line only."
Pfizer's TUKYSA Approved by FDA for Breast Cancer Maintenance Treatment
Pfizer announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved TUKYSA in combination with trastuzumab and pertuzumab for the maintenance treatment of adults with unresectable locally advanced or metastatic human epidermal growth factor 2-positive breast cancer following induction treatment. The approval expands the use of TUKYSA to frontline, an earlier stage of metastatic disease, offering a new chemotherapy-free maintenance treatment option that may help further delay disease progression.
