Prelude Therapeutics Announces Clinical Trial Collaboration with Eli Lilly
Prelude Therapeutics (PRLD) announced a clinical trial collaboration and supply agreement with Eli Lilly (LLY) for supply of its CDK4/6 kinase inhibitor, abemaciclib and its oral estrogen receptor antagonist, imlunestrant. The agreement supports the evaluation of Prelude's clinical development candidate PRT13722, an oral KAT6A selective degrader, in combinations with abemaciclib and imlunestrant in a Phase 1 trial in patients with HR+/HER2- breast cancer. The FDA recently cleared the company to proceed with the Phase 1 study under its investigational new drug, or IND, application for PRT13722. The company expects to begin enrolling patients in the fourth quarter of 2026 beginning with monotherapy dose escalation and rapidly advancing to various combination cohorts. Prelude maintains full global development and commercial rights to PRT13722 as a wholly owned program.
Eli Lilly Announces New Data from TOGETHER-PsO Trial
Eli Lilly announced new exploratory data from the TOGETHER-PsO Phase 3b clinical trial evaluating the concomitant use of Taltz and Zepbound compared with Taltz alone in adults with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis and obesity or overweight with at least one additional weight-related comorbid condition. The prespecified analysis, presented at the 2026 Fall Clinical Dermatology Conference in Las Vegas, provides new insights suggesting an immunometabolic relationship between psoriasis and obesity. These data showed that when Taltz and Zepbound were used together, changes were observed in more psoriasis disease-associated and metabolic biomarkers compared to Taltz monotherapy. In the U.S., approximately 61% of people with psoriasis also have obesity or overweight with at least one weight-related comorbidity. This analysis examined circulating proteins and gene expression in the blood to better understand the biological change observed when patients were treated concomitantly with Taltz and Zepbound vs. Taltz alone. At Week 36, observed changes in psoriasis-specific, immune and metabolic biomarkers in both the Taltz and Zepbound and Taltz monotherapy treatment arms were consistent with the known biological effects of each medicine when used for their approved indications. Notably, Taltz and Zepbound used together were associated with broader biomarker responses compared to Taltz alone as early as Week 12. This included changes in more proteins and genes by Week 36. Further, the analysis showed greater reductions in inflammatory immune activity with Taltz and Zepbound compared with Taltz alone, including changes related to neutrophils, a type of immune cell involved in inflammation. Changes in a subset of neutrophil-associated markers mediated a portion of the additional Psoriasis Area and Severity Index, or PASI, response seen with Taltz and Zepbound vs. Taltz alone.
Gate Bioscience Expands Collaboration with Eli Lilly, Potential Value Exceeds $870M
Gate Bioscience announced an expansion of its collaboration and license agreement with Eli Lilly to discover, develop, and commercialize molecular gate therapeutics. The expanded collaboration adds one target, with the opportunity to add a second target, to the companies' existing work. The programs leverage Gate's Molecular Gate drug discovery engine to identify medicines capable of eliminating specific difficult-to-drug proteins in diseases of high unmet medical need. Under the terms of the multi-year research collaboration, Gate will receive an upfront payment and a subsequent payment upon selection of the second target, plus research funding to support its discovery efforts. Gate will also be eligible to receive payments upon achievement of certain preclinical, clinical, and commercial milestones, as well as tiered royalties on global net sales. The total potential value of the agreement could exceed $870M, contingent on the achievement of milestones. Lilly will receive an exclusive, worldwide license to research, develop, commercialize, and otherwise exploit products arising from the collaboration for the selected targets. Gate will lead discovery efforts under the agreement, applying its Molecular Gate Discovery Platform to selected targets, while continuing to advance its wholly owned portfolio of molecular gate medicines toward the clinic. Lilly will be responsible for later-stage preclinical development, clinical development, manufacturing, and commercialization of medicines arising from the collaboration.
