Abbott Announces Beta-CORRECT Data, WGS Test Achieves 30% Improvement in Colorectal Cancer Recurrence Sensitivity
Abbott announced new Beta-CORRECT data presented at the European Society for Medical Oncology, or ESMO, Congress showing that the whole-genome sequencing, or WGS,-based Oncodetect molecular residual disease, or MRD, test achieved a 30% absolute improvement in sensitivity for colorectal cancer recurrence within two years of surgery, compared with the whole-exome sequencing, or WES, Oncodetect test, using a single post-surgery blood draw. A single blood test taken approximately one month after surgery using the WGS test achieved 72.2% sensitivity for recurrence within two years, compared with 42.2% for the WES test, a 30-percent absolute improvement. Among 157 patients tested post-surgery with both tests, the WGS test detected ctDNA in all 29 patients in whom the WES test identified, plus 15 additional patients. All additional detections were at levels below 20 parts per million, including 14 that were below 10 ppm. Strong prognostic value: Patients with detectable ctDNA after surgery had a 10.6-fold higher risk of recurrence than ctDNA-negative patients. Two-year disease-free survival rates were 36.2% versus 92.3%, respectively. Patients with detectable post-surgical ctDNA had approximately 31-fold higher recurrence risk compared to those who were ctDNA negative. Only 2.8% of stage II patients with undetectable ctDNA experienced recurrence within two years. About the Oncodetect(R) test
Flyte Aviation Subsidiary Releases LockeT Device Clinical Study
Flyte Aviation's wholly owned subsidiary Catheter Precision announced the first published comparative study evaluating its LockeT suture retention device against a traditional internal vascular closure device, or VCD, following large bore venous access. The 172-patient peer-reviewed study was published in The Journal of Interventional Cardiology. The clinical data demonstrated the superior safety and efficacy of the LockeT device compared to Perclose, an internal VCD manufactured and sold by Abbott (ABT). Key findings from the study include: fewer complications: LockeT reduced cumulative access-site complications to just 1.2% vs. 9.3% with Perclose; zero device failures: the LockeT device achieved a 0.0% failure rate, outperforming the VCD's 4.7% failure rate; equivalent efficiency: both methods delivered similar results for time to hemostasis and rates of same-day patient discharge.
