Stock Futures Rebound as Oil Prices Retreat Easing Inflation Pressure

Stock futures are pointing to a rebound after four straight sessions of declines. The bounce comes as oil prices retreat more than 3% from their recent highs, easing some of the inflation pressure that has pushed Treasury yields to multiyear highs. The August consumer price index report came in roughly in-line with expectations, with headline consumer prices rising 0.4% month over month and 3.4% from a year earlier, while core CPI increased 0.3% monthly and 2.4% annually. The firmer-than-expected core reading suggests underlying inflation remains sticky.Markets are now pricing a high probability of a 25-basis-point Fed hike next week, a dramatic change from the expectations for rate cuts that dominated the market earlier in the summer. The 10-year Treasury yield is hovering around 4.94%-4.96%, while the 30-year yield recently reached its highest level since 2004.WTI has fallen back below $100 and Brent is around $103-$104, but both remain sharply higher for the week amid escalating Middle East tensions and disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz. In pre-market trading, S&P 500 futures rose 0.65%, Nasdaq futures rose 0.81% and Dow futures rose 0.81%.Check out this morning's top movers from around Wall Street, compiled by The Fly.HIGHER -Click Holdingsup 4% after announcing that its CEO, Chan Chun Sing, has purchased 48,200 Class A ordinary shares of the company in the open marketGameStopup 4% after disclosing that its CEO Ryan Cohen bought 1M shares of common stock on September 10 in a total transaction valued at about $20MUP AFTER EARNINGS -Oracleup 6%Copartup 6% after earnings and a deal to buy ACV AuctionsDOWN AFTER EARNINGS -Zumiezdown 16%National Beveragedown 6%Adobedown 3%Krogerdown 2%LOWER -NuScale Powerdown 4% after UBS downgraded the stock to Sell with a price target of $6, down from $10, implying 40% downside from current levelsOklodown 2% after entering into an at-the-market equity offering for up to $1B
