Recursion Partners with Sanofi on Development Candidate, Receives $10M Milestone Payment

Recursion (RXRX) announced that Sanofi (SNY) has optioned the first development candidate from the two companies' multi-program research collaboration. The oral small molecule was designed to achieve a differentiated profile against a challenging dual target implicated in inflammatory disease and was delivered by the combination of Recursion's integrated AI-enabled drug design platform and small-molecule chemistry capabilities with Sanofi's deep expertise in drug discovery and immunology. The candidate has now been added to Sanofi's development pipeline and is expected to enter phase 1 clinical trials in 2027, with Sanofi funding and leading further development and commercialization. The option triggered a $10M milestone payment to Recursion, bringing total upfront and milestone payments under the collaboration to $144M to date. Recursion remains eligible for more than $300M in additional milestones under the program, with an average of low double-digit royalties on net product sales if approved. With the first development candidate optioned, the collaboration has now achieved six progress-based milestones across five programs. Additional programs across the collaboration continue to advance. In 2027, other programs in the joint portfolio have the potential to reach development candidate and other progress-based milestones.

Regeneron and Sanofi Expand Antibody Collaboration, Securing $1 Billion Upfront Payment

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals (REGN) and Sanofi (SNY) announced an expansion of their long-standing antibody collaboration, adding multiple next-generation, long-acting antibodies to the alliance that has jointly established Dupixent as the world-leading treatment for diseases driven by type 2 inflammation. The agreement builds on the companies' more than 20-year collaboration, through which more than 1.5M people are currently receiving Dupixent across nine indications, making it one of the most widely used antibody medicines in the world. Under the expanded license and collaboration agreement, the companies will co-develop and co-commercialize four new long-acting, Regeneron-invented antibodies targeting interleukin-13 (IL-13), IL-4xIL-13 bispecific, interleukin-4 and interleukin-4 receptor alpha. IL-13 antibody REGN20423 is currently in a Phase 1 clinical trial for atopic dermatitis, and the other three antibodies are expected to enter clinical studies in 2027. Regeneron will also have the option to include in the collaboration Sanofi's lunsekimig, an investigational bispecific Nanobody VHH therapy targeting TSLP and IL-13, exercisable upon completion of its Phase 3 trials for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Under the terms of the agreement, Regeneron will receive an upfront payment of $1B from Sanofi, with the potential for development, regulatory and commercial milestone payments of up to an additional $7B. The companies will share development and commercialization costs for the new programs and will split future profits from these potential products 50:50 on a global basis. Regeneron will lead research and development activities, and Sanofi will lead global commercial efforts. The existing profit-sharing agreement regarding Dupixent will not change.
