New York Sues Polymarket for Illegal Gambling

New York Attorney General Letitia James and Governor Kathy Hochul announced a lawsuit against Polymarket announced "for running an illegal gambling operation" in New York through its prediction market platform. An investigation by the Office of the Attorney General found that Polymarket's prediction market "is an illegal, unlicensed gambling operation that exposes New Yorkers - including those under the legal gambling age of 21 - to serious personal and financial risk." The lawsuit is seeking a court order stopping Polymarket from operating as an "unlicensed" gambling business in New York state and requiring the company to pay fines, forfeit all illegal gains, and pay restitution to users. Publicly traded companies in the gambling space include Boyd Gaming (BYD), Caesars (CZR), Churchill Downs (CHDN), DraftKings (DKNG), Flutter Entertainment (FLUT), Gan Limited (GAN), Genius Sports (GENI), Las Vegas Sands (LVS), MGM Resorts (MGM), Penn Entertainment (PENN), Rush Street Interactive (RSI), Sportradar (SRAD) and Wynn Resorts (WYNN).

Nasdaq Hits Record High Driven by AI Stocks Surge
