QIAGEN Launches New AI Features to Accelerate Biological Data Analysis
Qiagen announced new artificial intelligence capabilities to help researchers analyze complex biological and genomic data faster while keeping the scientific evidence behind the results visible. The expansion includes IPA Investigator, a new AI research companion for QIAGEN Ingenuity Pathway Analysis, and the new QIAGEN Discovery Platform, which extends these capabilities into automated drug discovery workflows. "AI can deliver an answer in seconds, but in science, speed without evidence can create false confidence," said Dominic John, Vice President and Head of QIAGEN Digital Insights. "Our approach is to combine the speed of AI with expert-curated biomedical knowledge and traceable scientific evidence so researchers can examine the evidence behind the results and evaluate them for themselves."
Qiagen Receives FDA Clearance for QIAstat-Dx Bloodstream Infection Panel
Qiagen announced that U.S. laboratories now have access to the complete QIAstat-Dx bloodstream infection portfolio following clearance of a new panel by the U.S. FDA. The new panel detects gram-negative bacteria and antibiotic resistance markers in about one hour, complementing the recently FDA-cleared QIAstat-Dx panel for gram-positive bacteria and fungi.
Qiagen Launches QIAmini Automated Sample Preparation System
Qiagen announced the launch of QIAmini, a compact automated sample preparation system designed to give research laboratories a time-saving and cost-efficient alternative to processing samples by hand. QIAmini is designed primarily for academic laboratories and other research customers processing smaller sample batches that do not require larger automated systems. "Automation should not depend on batch size," said Nitin Sood, Senior Vice President and Head of Product Portfolio & Innovation at QIAGEN. "QIAmini gives labs processing smaller batches a practical way to replace repetitive manual work with automation. It also expands our automation portfolio from small batches to high-throughput research and clinical testing."
10x Genomics Awarded $4.8M for Parse Biosciences Infringement
10x Genomics (TXG) announced that a jury in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware found that Parse Biosciences, now a subsidiary of Qiagen (QGEN), willfully infringed three patents exclusively licensed to Scale Biosciences, part of 10x Genomics since 2025. The patents are exclusively licensed from Roche Sequencing Solutions. The jury also rejected Parse's challenges to the validity of the patents, finding all three patents valid and enforceable. "The jury awarded 10x over $4.8M in damages for sales of Parse's infringing Evercode Whole Transcriptome products from February 2021 through June 30, 2026. The damages award is based on a 14% royalty rate on infringing Parse sales. In post-trial proceedings, 10x will seek additional awards including enhanced damages and attorneys' fees for Parse's willful infringement, and a permanent injunction stopping further infringement by Parse in the United States," the company stated. "The evidence presented at trial shows that Parse made a deliberate and calculated decision to ignore Dr. Nolan's seminal inventions in single cell analysis. The jury heard the evidence and soundly rejected Parse's defenses to find that Parse willfully infringed the patents exclusively licensed to Scale. We are pleased with today's verdict, which makes clear that companies cannot simply benefit from the innovation of others and disregard the patent rights protecting them," said Randy Wu, General Counsel of 10x Genomics.
