Elanco Animal Health Completes 25,000-SF Manufacturing Expansion

Elanco Animal Health announced the on-time completion of a 25,000-square-foot manufacturing expansion of its Elwood, Kansas manufacturing site. As one of only two animal health companies with mAb solutions on the market today, the expansion further strengthens Elanco's leadership in the biologics space. The company recently announced the phased launch of Befrena, a new anti-IL-31 mAb injection for treatment of canine allergic and atopic dermatitis. In addition to Befrena, Elanco's first mAb product, Trutect, formerly Canine Parvovirus Monoclonal Antibody, received full approval in 2025 as the first and only approved therapeutic solution for canine parvovirus. Both products are currently manufactured at Elanco's Elwood facility. In addition to increasing production capacity of the manufacturing site by more than four times with upstream and downstream processing equipment, this $120M investment also includes: a new pilot plant to accelerate process development and deliver the materials needed for clinical testing, a new quality control laboratory and additional support spaces. Another $30M investment is planned through 2028 to include additional warehousing, for a total investment of $150M. Design-build firm Burns & McDonnell, headquartered in Kansas City, Mo., led the expansion project as the primary provider of integrated design and construction services.

Elanco Receives FDA Emergency Authorization for CLiK Extra to Prevent New World Screwworm Infestations

Elanco announced it has received Emergency Use Authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for CLiK Extra wound spray for application on or around wounds to prevent infestations of New World screwworm larvae in sheep, cattle, goats, swine and camelids, as well as captive and captured cervids, American bison, bighorn sheep and Sonoran pronghorn. Livestock producers and veterinarians can apply Elanco's CLiK Extra spray on or around wounds, including those associated with birth and following surgical procedures, on animals to help prevent infestations of New World screwworm larvae before they occur. However, if a wound is already infested or an infestation develops after administration, alternative treatment will be necessary since CLiK Extra has not been shown to treat active New World screwworm infestations. Elanco's Negasunt Powder and Tanidil received emergency authorizations for prevention and treatment of New World screwworm earlier this year. These products will be available only through the U.S. Animal Plant Health and Inspection Service and its National Veterinary Stockpile as distributed in coordination with state animal health officials and federally recognized tribal agencies. Elanco also offers producers Catron IV, one of the few EPA registered products labeled for treatment against screwworm in a variety of livestock species. This screwworm and ear tick spray can help producers kill and control screwworm flies and maggots on beef and dairy cattle, sheep, goats, hogs and horses.

Elanco Animal Health Raises FY26 Revenue Outlook to $5.09B-$5.14B
