Coinbase Files Registration for Equity Perpetuals
Faryar Shirzad, Chief Policy Officer at Coinbase, stated in a post to X: "Equity perpetuals are coming onshore. This week @coinbase took the first step to offer them in the U.S on our derivatives exchange by filing notice registration documents with the @SECgov. Equity perps have proven demand internationally, and we're excited at the prospect of a regulated pathway for U.S. investors. The next step is product approval with the @CFTC. The coordination between the SEC and CFTC making this possible is long overdue - and it's exactly what needs to happen for the U.S. to stay competitive on products investors already want. This is only the beginning."
CME Group Reports August ADV of 29.7M Contracts
CME Group reported its second-highest August average daily volume, ADV, on record at 29.7M contracts, an increase of 6% from August 2025.
CME Group Launches E-mini Equity Factor Futures
CME Group plans to expand its equity product suite with the launch of E-mini Equity Factor futures on September 21, pending regulatory review. Equity factors are performance indicators that can help investors capture growth, navigate volatility and diversify holdings. The new E-mini futures will be available to complement single- and multi-factor strategies. The products will include: E-mini S&P 500 Growth futures, E-mini S&P 500 Value futures, E-mini S&P 500 Quality futures, E-mini S&P 500 Momentum futures, E-mini S&P 500 Low Volatility futures, and E-mini Dow Jones U.S. Dividend 100 futures. E-mini Equity Factor futures will be eligible for margin offsets with other cleared equity products at CME Group. The contracts, listed on and subject to the rules of CME, will be available for trading on CME Globex, as well as through privately negotiated block trades, derived blocks and Basis Trade at Index Close transactions.
CME Group Plans to Launch Wind Power Futures and Options
CME Group announced plans to launch financially-settled Wind Power futures and options in the Q4, pending regulatory review. These new tools will help market participants manage risk associated with wind power generation, extending CME Group's suite of market-leading energy products. Based on indices provided by Vaisala Xweather, the new futures will track and settle against independent datasets that model projected wind power output at designated locations. The regions selected have either a significant amount of installed capacity or a notable percentage of their electricity comes from wind generation. The five contracts cover four key global power regions: Wind Power Germany ERA5 100m 2019 Index; Wind Power Germany ERA5 100m 2022 B Index; Wind Power UK ERA5 100m 2022 Index; Wind Power Australia VIC 2024-06 Index; Wind Power U.S. Texas ERCOT ERA5 100m 2022 Index.
