IBM and Red Hat Launch $5B Project Lightwell

IBM (IBM) and Red Hat announced Project Lightwell, a $5B commitment backed by new frontier AI capabilities and a global force of more than 20,000 engineers to help enterprises secure open-source software. Together, these investments establish a new model for enterprise use of open-source software, from upstream development through production environments. Project Lightwell will establish an enterprise clearinghouse combined with a force of engineers to identify and fix vulnerabilities at scale. The clearinghouse will serve as a security coordination layer, using advanced AI capabilities to validate and test fixes across an unprecedented volume of open-source code. These capabilities will be offered through commercial subscriptions, allowing enterprises to integrate secure patches directly into their existing software supply chains with enterprise-grade validation and lifecycle management. IBM and Red Hat have already begun collaborating with a select group of early adopters on Project Lightwell, including Bank of America (BAC), BNY (BK), Citi (C), Goldman Sachs (GS), JPMorganChase (JPM), Mastercard (MA), Morgan Stanley (MS), Royal Bank of Canada (RY), State Street (STT), Visa (V) and Wells Fargo (WFC). Project Lightwell builds on IBM and Red Hat's open source, enterprise AI and security, and incorporates learnings from initiatives such as Anthropic's Project Glasswing and OpenAI's Trust Access for Cyber, with a goal of utilizing new IBM agentic security methods to protect the foundational open source layers that underpin modern enterprise and AI systems.

Snapdocs Partners with BNY to Launch Digital Mortgage Infrastructure

Snapdocs announced an initiative with BNY, a global financial services platforms company, to deliver automated, end-to-end digital mortgage collateral infrastructure. "The joint initiative addresses one of the mortgage industry's most persistent operational gaps: collateral delivery that still relies on numerous manual handoffs between settlement, lenders, warehouse banks, and custodians, causing multi-day delays that can slow secondary market execution and erode per-loan profitability," the company said.

BNY Reports Q1 Revenue of $5.41B, Beating Expectations

Reports Q1 revenue $5.41B, consensus $5.19B. The company said: "BNY had a strong start to 2026 with record revenue of $5.4 billion in the first quarter, up 13% year-over-year, reflecting broad-based growth across our Securities Services and Market and Wealth Services businesses. We delivered over 800 basis points of positive operating leverage, while investing in new products, capabilities, AI, and - critically - our people and culture. Taken together, we reported a pre-tax margin of 37%, generated an ROTCE of 29%, and grew earnings per share by 42% year-over-year. The portfolio of BNY's businesses is unique, but it is how we are embracing new ways of working, our adoption and integration of new technologies and our strong culture that is enabling us to create truly differentiated solutions for our clients. As a result, our sales momentum continues. We delivered the strongest quarterly sales performance in our history, and since the beginning of the year, we announced several very strategic business wins. Amid a dynamic operating environment, our diversified business model, combined with our strong balance sheet, allows us to serve as a pillar of strength for our clients and markets around the world, as our teams continue to execute on our long-term plan to unlock BNY's full potential for our clients and shareholders."
