Meta Launches Muse Spark Open, First Desktop AI Model

Muse Spark Open is a natively multimodal model with 816B total parameters and a 1M-token context window. Muse Spark Open is the first model in its class to run on your desktop using two Apple M5 Ultra Mac Studios with the latest MLX framework. Muse Spark Open is available today through API platforms at Baseten, Fireworks AI, Groq, Modal, Nebius, OpenRouter and Together AI. Model weights are available for download on Amazon SageMaker AI, Google Cloud Model Garden, Hugging Face, and Microsoft Foundry Models. It runs on leading inference engines like SGLang, vLLM, TensorRT-LLM, Hugging Face Transformers, Apple MLX, llama.cpp, and Unsloth with optimizations for AMD, Apple, Intel, and Nvidiasilicon. Xanadu Quantum Announces Strategic Partnership with GlobalFoundries
Xanadu Quantum (XNDU) announced a strategic multi-year partnership with GlobalFoundries (GFS). This partnership combines Xanadu's existing expertise in ultra-low loss photonic design and process development with GF's photonics manufacturing prowess to accelerate the development and manufacturing of advanced photonic components, including ultra-low loss silicon nitride photonics and Superconducting Nanowire Single-Photon Detectors, through GF's 300 mm production line in Malta, New York. The initial focus of the Xanadu and GlobalFoundries partnership is on the industrialization of Xanadu's SNSPDs and its ultra-low-loss SiN platform. The adoption of SNSPDs is expected to dramatically increase the speed of Xanadu's quantum computing systems and considerably reduce the chip overheads needed to deliver utility-scale quantum computers with Xanadu's photonic quantum computing architecture. In addition to SNSPDs and SiN, Xanadu and GF are exploring future work packages to further develop high-performance quantum modules that are intended to increase the power and utility of photonic quantum computing systems. The output of this collaboration is expected to serve as the manufacturing foundation for Xanadu's upcoming fault-tolerant demonstrators, supporting the company's long-term objective of providing the hardware architecture for future quantum data centers.
