WeRide and Uber Obtain Spain's First Level 4 Autonomous Driving Permit
WeRide (WRD), Uber (UBER), and Avomo, the autonomous vehicle division of the Moove Cars Group, in collaboration with the Regional Government of Madrid, announced that they have received Spain's first national permit for Level 4 autonomous passenger vehicles to operate on public roads, by Spain's Directorate General of Traffic within the ES-AV framework. This authorization marks a regulatory milestone toward the launch of Spain's first commercial autonomous vehicle service. This launch marks the beginning of WeRide and Uber's joint entry into the Spanish market and represents the fourth of the 15 cities under the WeRide-Uber strategic partnership, with another 11 cities to come by 2030. Under this global partnership, WeRide and Uber plan to deploy tens of thousands of autonomous vehicles on public roads. Commercial operations in Spain are expected to begin by the end of 2026 following the completion of deployment preparations and the achievement of the necessary operational and regulatory milestones. The permit allows WeRide, Uber, and AVOMO to begin deployment preparation activities such as mapping, route validation, and operational readiness testing, establishing the foundation for future commercial autonomous passenger transport services under the DGT ES-AV framework. The initial phase will deploy twenty vehicles equipped with WeRide's latest autonomous driving technology, operating under the supervision of an in-car vehicle specialist, and will be deployed across various high-demand areas within the Greater Madrid region. As the first national approval for WeRide's GXR autonomous vehicle in the EU, the permit creates a regulatory benchmark for future vehicle certification and commercialization across the region.

WeRide and GreenMobility Announce Strategic Partnership
WeRide and GreenMobility announced a strategic partnership to deploy autonomous shared mobility services in Denmark. The partnership combines WeRide's Level 4 autonomous driving technology with GreenMobility's local fleet operations and shared mobility expertise, making the companies the first to pursue commercial autonomous mobility deployment in Denmark, subject to regulatory approvals. Under the partnership, the companies aim to launch public service in the first half of 2027, and all riders will be able to request a ride fulfilled by the GXR, WeRide's latest generation, EU-compliant fully self-driving vehicle. Denmark marks the sixth European market for WeRide, following recent expansion into Spain and Slovakia.
WeRide Partners with Geely to Develop Right-Hand-Drive Robotaxis
WeRide announced the joint development of Robotaxis specifically designed for right-hand-drive markets, as part of a strategic partnership with Geely Farizon New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group, China's top new energy commercial vehicle brand, and Kwoon Chung Bus Holdings Limited, a leading public transport operator in Hong Kong at the 2026 International Automotive & Supply Chain Expo. Given the current lack of right-hand-drive Robotaxis in the market, this collaboration delivers a customized solution specifically tailored for right-hand-drive systems. By leveraging their respective strengths in autonomous driving innovation, new energy vehicle manufacturing, and public transport operations, the purpose-built, mass-produced right-hand-drive Robotaxi will be designed based on the existing production-ready GXR platform. The deployment of commercial right-hand-drive Robotaxi services will begin in Hong Kong, bringing transformative autonomous mobility solutions to right-hand-drive markets worldwide.
