$PYPL I started a swing position here because technically everything is showing a positive trend. If it starts to trend over 50% of that gap, with volume, that trend will be confirmed for me. If it comes back and trends below the 50-day (red line), that would tell me the trend is likely broken and warrant a stop loss alert.

At 2 a.m. on September 17, the Fed's interest rate decision will be announced. The market has now pushed the probability of a 25 basis point hike to nearly 90%, in other words, investors have already priced in part of a hike in advance. The real question is not whether the Fed will hike, but whether there will be a second shoe to drop after the hike. August core CPI rose 0.3% month over month, above expectations, giving the Fed a reason to maintain a hawkish policy stance. Goldman Sachs shifted from previously expecting no move to forecasting a hike, and JPMorgan expects one hike each in September and December, with institutional views clearly turning more cautious. At the same time, Trump wants the U.S. to have the world's lowest interest rates, while White House economic adviser Hassett believes there is no reason to hike now. One is a political demand, the other an economic judgment, and the market will naturally pay more attention to whether the Fed can maintain policy independence. If there is indeed a 25 basis point hike this time, I think asset performance is unlikely to be uniform, and different assets will clearly diverge. The first category is high-valuation tech stocks. The AI theme remains strong, but rising rates mean the room for valuation expansion is compressed. Companies that previously rose on long-term imagination may face greater valuation pressure; conversely, companies with real order growth, continuously improving margins, and stable cash flow may instead attract capital. In the future, the market may shift from "telling stories" back to "looking at the numbers." The second category is gold. Although gold has no interest income, it is highly sensitive to changes in real rates and the dollar. If real yields continue to rise after the hike, gold may come under short-term pressure; but if the market judges that the economy is cooling and that this hike is near the end of the policy cycle, then gold's medium-term logic still holds. Simply put, what gold fears is not one hike, but a sustained rise in real rates. The third category is BTC. Bitcoin now looks more and more like a macro liquidity asset, rather than purely an asset within the crypto market. A stronger dollar and rising real yields tend to make BTC volatile in the short term; but if after the hike lands the market starts trading "the last hike," or even bets again on future easing, BTC may instead benefit from a recovery in risk appetite. So if I were to rank them now, I would not bet that any one asset "must rise." In the short term, I lean more toward high-quality tech assets with stable cash flow plus moderately defensive assets; in the medium term, I would focus on gold and BTC, because the real big opportunities usually come from turning points in the rate cycle, not from the 25 basis points at a single meeting. The biggest risk of this meeting is that the market has already pushed rate hike expectations very high. If the result meets expectations, there may instead be a "bad news landing"; but if Powell's remarks are clearly more hawkish than the market imagines, the market may truly face a second shock. So do not just stare at the number at 2 a.m. What is really worth watching is 2:30 a.m. — after Powell speaks, how the dollar, U.S. Treasury yields, and risk assets move. Rate decisions set prices, expectations set volatility. In this market, people often lose not because they got the direction wrong, but because they failed to understand expectations. $PYPL
