Pony AI Unveils New Heavy-Duty Truck in Collaboration with GAC

Pony AI unveiled a new Level 4 autonomous heavy-duty truck developed in collaboration with GAC Commercial Vehicle. The global debut marks the latest step in the companies' collaboration and advances Pony.ai's efforts to bring its fourth generation Robotruck platform into mass production and commercial deployment. As one of the models in Pony.ai's Gen-4 Robotruck lineup, the new vehicle is built on GAC Commercial Vehicle's T9 battery-electric heavy-duty truck platform. Volume production is scheduled to begin later this year, with vehicles to be deployed in long-haul freight, dedicated-route logistics and port transportation. The new model integrates Pony.ai's Gen-4 L4 autonomous trucking system with GAC Commercial Vehicle's fully redundant drive-by-wire chassis. Its steering, braking, communications, power supply, computing and sensing systems all feature fully redundant architectures to support safe operation across a wide range of conditions. The vehicle is also equipped with a fully automotive-grade autonomous driving kit (ADK) comprising nine lidars, three millimeter-wave radars and 13 cameras, providing 360-degree sensing coverage with no blind spots. It uses the same domain controller as Pony.ai's seventh-generation Robotaxis. The bill-of-materials cost of the ADK has been reduced by 70% compared with the previous generation, while transportation costs per ton-kilometer are expected to fall by 30%. Pony.ai's energy-efficiency algorithms, combined with the T9's ultra-low drag coefficient of 0.4 Cd, are also expected to reduce energy consumption by 10% compared with conventional trucks, supporting smarter, greener and more efficient freight operations.

Pony AI and Verne Launch Driverless Robotaxi Test Rides in Zagreb

Pony AI (PONY) and Verne announced the start of fully driverless Robotaxi test rides with passengers on public roads in Zagreb, marking a European first. The milestone represents a step toward fully driverless commercial operations. The test rides take place along a 22-kilometer route linking Verne's headquarters and one of Zagreb's main business districts with Franjo Tudman Airport Zagreb. The fully driverless routes will be further expanded in the next few months, with the aim to cover the whole operating area in Zagreb. The milestone comes just over five months after Pony.ai, Verne and Uber (UBER) announced their partnership to launch Europe's first commercial Robotaxi service. Under the joint deployment model, Pony.ai provides the autonomous driving technology, Verne leads the service operations, and Uber offers access to the service through its platform. Since the service operated by Verne was launched in early April, the fleet has logged more than 200,000 kilometers in operations, completed several thousand customer rides and achieved an average passenger rating of 4.7 out of 5.

Major Averages Decline as Bond Yields Surge

The major averages were broadly lower as a surge in sovereign bond yields arrives amid concerns around inflation and higher oil prices. Semiconductor weakness also appears to be weighing on the broader market, with big chip stocks such as Western Digital, SanDisk, Marvell, and Seagate are all slipping.Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve's July meeting minutes, due Wednesday, are another catalyst. After the recent weak labor-market data and relatively benign inflation reports, investors have been looking for evidence that policymakers are becoming more comfortable with eventual rate cuts. However, the renewed rise in oil prices and long-term Treasury yields could complicate that outlook.Get caught up quickly on the top news and calls moving stocks with these five Top Five lists.1.
