Nano Nuclear Energy Signs Strategic Framework with Tillman

Nano Nuclear Energy announced the signing of a non-binding strategic commercial framework with Tillman and its global data-center platform, Tillman Digital Gateway, to advance the future deployment of Nano Nuclear's Kronos MMR Energy Systems across Tillman's planned AI industrial zones in the United States. The framework identifies Nano Nuclear as Tillman's anticipated preferred nuclear technology provider and establishes a structure for the parties to collaborate on the evaluation and development of nuclear generation opportunities across Tillman's growing U.S. data-center pipeline, with a parallel opportunity to expand to certain international markets. In connection with the proposed collaboration, the parties are targeting 2 GW or more of advanced nuclear capacity by the mid-2030s and 6 GW or more by 2040, subject to general and site-specific definitive agreements, customer commitments, financing, regulatory approvals and other project requirements.

T1 Energy Short Interest Soars to 35.5%

Welcome to this week's installment of "The Short Interest Report" - The Fly's weekly recap of short interest trends among some of the most widely followed high-short-float stocks. Using the data from our partner, which utilizes the latest information from stock lenders to estimate short interest changes for thousands of publicly traded companies, this report will screen for some of biggest changes in short interest as a percentage of free float and days-to-cover ratios while also considering the short interest data on some of the more volatile and heavier-traded names of the week. Based on the availability of data from Ortex, the report tracks the trading period that covers prior Friday through Thursday of this week, excluding holidays. As a basis of comparison for stocks discussed below, the S&P 500 index was up 1.2%, the Nasdaq Composite was up 1.7%, the Russell 2000 index was up 1.7%, the Russell 2000 Growth ETFwas up 2.2% and the Russell 2000 Value ETFwas up 1.3% in the five-day trading session range through August 13th.SHORT INTEREST GAINERSOrtex-reported short interest in T1 Energytroughed around 21% of free float on June 9 as traders took profits following the sharp upswing in the stock during the first week of June. Shares continued to fall through July, though short interest inflected higher as bearish positioning steadily rebuilt. This week, short interest spiked from 28.1% to 35.5% of free float, a record high. Days-to-cover also increased from 1.4 to 1.8 as short exposure climbed. The stock fell 14% in the five-day period covered through Thursday and is now down 24% year-to-date, with shorts continuing to press their bets amid the sustained weakness.Ortex-reported short interest in Campbell'stroughed at a three-month low of about 21% of free float on August 4 but rose briskly this week, climbing from 21.2% to 25.2%, a one-month high. The sharp increase signals renewed bearish positioning after short exposure had steadily eased into early August. Days-to-cover rose from 5.0 to 6.0 as trading volumes remained subdued, further increasing the potential pressure from elevated short positioning. The stock gained 3.2% in the five-day period covered through Thursday, even as short sellers added to their positions. Despite the weekly advance, shares remain down 17% year-to-date.Ortex-reported short interest in NANO Nuclear Energytroughed around 19% of free float on April 23, coinciding with a six-week high in the stock, but bearish positioning has rebuilt consistently since then. This week, Ortex-reported short interest on the stock slid from 29.4% all the way down to 20.7% - the lowest level since the first week of June. Elevated trading volume in the stock has also driven a similarly outsized retreat in days-to-cover, which is slipping from 8.0 to a six-week low of 5.8. Shares of Bob's Discount were up 8% in the five-day period covered, capturing a new leg of gains following in-line Q2 results on August 6 that was followed by largly positive post-earnings commentary from sell-side analysts commending the company for its market share gains. While Bob's Discount Store was down 3% on Friday, its year-to-date gains now stand at 13%.Ortex-reported short interest in Tango Therapeuticspeaked at a four-month high of 69% of free float on July 14, but short positioning has since been flushed sharply lower. This week, short interest plunged from 56% to 36% of free float, its lowest level in 14 months, marking a dramatic unwind in bearish bets. Days-to-cover moved in the opposite direction, however, rising from 10.4 to 11.8 as trading volumes moderated. The stock fell 12% in the five-day period covered through Thursday, including weakness on Tuesday following its Q2 results that came in spite of the management's constructive discussion of the vopimetostat plus daraxonrasib study. Even after the recent pullback to the lowest level since the company announced a positive update on vopimetostat plus daraxonrasib in pancreatic cancer on June 5th, Tango Therapeutics shares have still nearly tripled year-to-date.
