Carnival Reports Q3 EPS Beat at $1.43
Shares of cruise operators are higher in early trading after Carnival (CCL) reported Q3 adjusted earnings per share of $1.43, beating analyst estimates of $1.35, on revenue of $8.44B, which exceeded the $8.39B estimate. We delivered another quarter of top and bottom-line records, with accelerating demand and even stronger cost discipline driving results ahead of our expectations," the company said in a statement. Newbuild capital expenditures for Q4 are expected to be $0.3B and net yields are anticipated to be up about 1.7% year over year. Carnival sees FY26 net yields up 2.3%. Looking to 2027, Carnival said both booked occupancy and pricing are at record levels, providing a strong foundation for another year of solid yield growth, and that 2028 is also off to an "excellent start" at higher occupancy and prices than last year. Shares of Carnival are up 10% to $24.30. Meanwhile, other publicly traded companies in the space are higher, including Norwegian Cruise Line (NCLH), up 4.7%, Royal Caribbean (RCL), up 6.2%, and Viking Holdings (VIK), up 1.5%.
Major Averages Decline as Bond Yields Surge
The major averages were broadly lower as a surge in sovereign bond yields arrives amid concerns around inflation and higher oil prices. Semiconductor weakness also appears to be weighing on the broader market, with big chip stocks such as Western Digital, SanDisk, Marvell, and Seagate are all slipping.Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve's July meeting minutes, due Wednesday, are another catalyst. After the recent weak labor-market data and relatively benign inflation reports, investors have been looking for evidence that policymakers are becoming more comfortable with eventual rate cuts. However, the renewed rise in oil prices and long-term Treasury yields could complicate that outlook.Get caught up quickly on the top news and calls moving stocks with these five Top Five lists.1.
