Mastercard and BVNK Launch Global Money Platform

Mastercard and BVNK announced the launch of Mastercard Global Money Platform, bringing together Mastercard's global payments capabilities with BVNK's stablecoin infrastructure through a single API. The launch marks the first major integration of Mastercard and BVNK capabilities since the acquisition of BVNK in August 2026. Global Money Platform provides a full-stack, modular infrastructure layer for modern finance. Banks, fintechs and enterprises can now embed multi-currency accounts, including fiat and stablecoins, real-time conversion, stablecoin-linked cards and local bank payouts through Mastercard Move into their own products and under their own brand. They can also use the platform to manage their own treasury, payments and settlement activity directly. Customers can start with the capabilities they need and add more as they become available, reducing the need to integrate separate providers for each part of the money journey. Payments leader Nuvei and modern card issuing platform Marqeta will be among the first to integrate Global Money Platform, alongside Ontop, Beem and Almond FinTech. The platform will enable customers to move more seamlessly between traditional currencies and stablecoins while expanding choice in how they accept, manage and move money across markets.

Trump Backs Legislation Allowing Merchants to Choose Credit Card Networks

President Trump, Vice President JD Vance and several top allies on the campaign trail have backed legislation that would allow merchants to choose an alternative card network to process credit-card transactions, Ben Glickman of The Wall Street Journal reported. The bill could disrupt the billions of dollars in fees that underpin the credit-card industry, drawing support from merchants while raising concerns among banks. Large retailers have backed the legislation for years, arguing that greater competition would reduce the fees they pay on card transactions and allow them to pass some of those savings on to consumers. Banks, meanwhile, argue that those fees help fund credit-card rewards programs, including cash-back and travel points, and that the legislation could force changes to programs popular with consumers.

Mastercard Expands Agent Pay Program with New Trust and Intelligence Services

Mastercard announced an expansion of Agent Pay, its agentic payments program, with new trust and intelligence services that provide greater context for AI-initiated transactions. By bringing together identity, intent, behavioral and fraud insights, the services give financial institutions and merchants a clearer, shared understanding of AI-driven activity - enabling smarter authorization decisions, less unnecessary friction and more seamless experiences for consumers. These new services form the intelligence layer of Mastercard's Agent Pay Trust Framework, which brings together identity, intent, controls, execution and intelligence to establish trust across agentic commerce.
