Honeywell Aerospace Pays $2.04M to Settle Cybersecurity Allegations
The Justice Department announced that Honeywell Aerospace has agreed to pay $2.04M to resolve allegations that it is liable under the False Claims Act for failing to comply with cybersecurity requirements in a contract with the U.S. Department of Defense. The settlement resolves allegations that from April 2020 through December 2023, a business unit of Honeywell International submitted false claims for payment by failing to comply with cybersecurity requirements specified in National Institute of Standards and Technology Special Publication 800-171, with respect to one of Honeywell's networks, as required by the contract and regulation. The allegations resolved by this settlement arose from a whistleblower lawsuit filed under the False Claims Act under which private citizens can sue on behalf of the government and share in any recovery. The settlement in this case provides for the whistleblower, Rachel Tenney, a former employee of Honeywell, to receive $375,823 as her share of the settlement.

Jefferies Estimates Radio Altimeter Upgrade Market at $4B-$7B
After the FAA published its final rule requiring radio altimeter upgrades to withstand 5G wireless networks, Jefferies said the upgrade of 50,000-60,000 radio altimeter upgrades is estimated at $4B-$7B, including 60-70 rebates paid to operators with positive implications for Honeywell Aerospace (HONA) and RTX Collins (RTX). The radar altimeter market is concentrated among a handful of avionics suppliers, with Honeywell Aerospace and RTX Collins serving as the primary competitors in commercial transport and military aviation, the analyst tells investors in a research note. The firm added that Honeywell has a large installed base, standardized ALA-52B platform, and a deep military presence, while Collins competes through highly integrated cockpit and sensor suites embedded across commercial/defense fleets.
Honeywell Aerospace Wins IndiGo Order for 810 Aircraft
Honeywell Aerospace (HONA) announced that IndiGo, India's largest airline, has selected Honeywell Aerospace's avionics and power systems for its order of 810 new Airbus (EADSY) A320neo family aircraft. This agreement represents the largest new-aircraft-selectable equipment win in Honeywell Aerospace history, accelerating the company's expansion. Alongside the new equipment, Honeywell Aerospace will deliver aftermarket support. Under this agreement, Honeywell Aerospace will supply: 131-9A auxiliary power units; advanced weather radar systems; traffic collision avoidance systems; flight management systems and an aftermarket program designed to help optimize fleet performance throughout the operational life of the aircraft.
