Hawaiian Electric Submits Renewable Energy Plan
Hawaiian Electric, a subsidiary of Hawaiian Electric Industries, submitted its Integrated Grid Planning Request for Proposals, seeking plans for competitively priced renewable energy and storage for O'ahu, Hawai'i Island and Maui to meet customers' growing energy needs and modernize the generation fleet to drive down costs by reducing the use of oil for power generation. Collectively, these projects comprise one of Hawaiian Electric's largest-ever energy solicitations. When completed, these projects will make progress toward the state's goal of using 100% renewable energy for power generation by 2045. "Hawai'i needs to move faster and we think our expedited procurement plan is the best way to drive competition, evaluate all options and more rapidly build a portfolio that meets the requirements of efficiency, reliability and lower carbon emissions and does it at the least cost," said Scott Seu, CEO of Hawaiian Electric. "This is one of the actions we're taking that will benefit our customers and our state sooner, not on some faraway horizon."

Hawaiian Electric announces Q3 EPS excluding items at 19 cents, matching two estimates of 19 cents.
Reports Q3 revenue $790.61M vs $833.24M last year. "Our core operations performed well in the third quarter, with the utility operating efficiently while continuing to advance the safety and resiliency measures outlined in our comprehensive Wildfire Safety Strategy. In September, we expanded our credit facility capacity to $600 million from $375 million, and successfully completed our first significant issuance of Hawaiian Electric debt since the Maui wildfires. The approximately $500 million in debt issuance proceeds, as well as the additional credit facility capacity, enhance liquidity and add financial flexibility, supporting investments in generation, safety, reliability and resilience across the islands we serve. Lastly, the Maui wildfire tort litigation settlement continues to advance, with a hearing on final court approval for the class settlement in the coming months. Our base case still assumes that our first settlement payment will occur no earlier than the first quarter of 2026," said Scott Seu, HEI president and CEO.
Hawaiian Electric reports Q2 core EPS 20c vs. 26c last year
Reports Q2 revenue $746.39M vs. $795.42M last year. "Our core operations performed as expected in the second quarter, with the utility progressing measures to protect our communities against the risks posed by extreme weather events. We've also continued to make the changes necessary to move forward as a simpler, more focused company best positioned to serve our communities for the long term. This includes our sale of Pacific Current's solar and battery storage assets and the expected divestiture of our remaining stake in American Savings Bank over the next year. Last month, Governor Josh Green signed legislation passed by the Hawaii State Legislature directing the Public Utilities Commission to establish a liability cap for future wildfires, and authorizing securitization to finance $500 million in wildfire safety improvements, helping customer affordability. Legislation to reduce risk to independent power producers and support the utility's ability to procure reliable, affordable clean energy was also signed into law, along with legislation appropriating funds for the State of Hawaii's contribution to the settlement, ensuring the settlement is able to move forward," said Scott Seu, HEI president and CEO.
