Perplexity Opens SPACE AI Sandbox, Cybersecurity Stocks Drop
Shares of cybersecurity companies are moving lower after Semafor's Reed Albergotti reported that Perplexity is giving away SPACE, its AI sandbox used to combat rogue AI agents. SPACE is now an open source project, allowing outside developers to use the tool, and Perplexity has lined up CoreWeave (CRWV), Akamai (AKAM), and Crusoe to offer SPACE to customers, according to the report. Other companies like Nvidia (NVDA) have also released open-source security tools, such as Nvidia OpenShell, which runs AI agents in a sandbox and limits what they can reach, Albergotti says. Publicly traded companies in the space include Check Point (CHKP), CrowdStrike (CRWD), CyberArk (CYBR), F5 (FFIV), Fortinet (FTNT), Gen Digital (GEN), Okta (OKTA), Palo Alto Networks (PANW) and Qualys (QLYS).
Nasdaq and S&P 500 Hit Record Highs
Retreat in Oil prices and Treasury yields helped support investor sentiment, sending Nasdaq Composite and the S&P 500 to record highs. Utilities was the best performing sector in the index, with traders piling into the beaten down but high-yielding space, betting that the bid in the Treasury market could be sustainable. Consumer Cyclicals - still the worst S&P sector this year - also performed well, with outsized gains of about 3% among discount chains Dollar Treeand Dollar General. Tech was mixed, with losses in semiconductor equipment offset by gains in communication equipment stocks. In software, cybersecurity names were especially impressive as Palo Alto Networks, CrowdStrike, and Fortinetall notched all-time highs. In the opening hour of the evening session, S&P e-minis and Nasdaq 100 contracts are up a decimal. In commodities, WTI Crude Oil had fallen to a one-month low around $87 per barrel on easing supply concerns, though November contract is back around $90 on Tuesday evening.Check out this evening's top movers from around Wall Street, compiled by The Fly.HIGHER AFTER EARNINGS -Neogenup 10.0%Penguin Solutionsup 5.4%ALSO HIGHER -Pluriup 6.1% after equity offeringZIM Integrated Shipping Servicesup 4.3% after positive FY26 pre-announcementDOWN AFTER EARNINGS -Constellation Brandsdown 4.6%Worthington Steeldown 3.7%ALSO LOWER -Caribou Biosciencesdown 35.3% after announcing it would discontinue development activities, explore alternativesFair Isaacdown 0.8% after announcing staff cutsSpaceXdown 1.0% after FT report that the company seeks to raise $40B to purchase Nvidia, up 0.5%) chips
Fortinet Opens Innovation Hub in NYC with Over $60M Investment
Fortinet announced the opening of a new company-owned Innovation Hub in New York City. The new Innovation Hub will give customers and partners in the region greater access to Fortinet experts, hands-on technology demonstrations, executive briefings, and training. The expanded presence will also support closer engagement with organizations, including the financial services sector, as they navigate increasingly complex cybersecurity requirements. Representing an investment of more than $60M, the facility underscores Fortinet's continued commitment to strategic markets and providing customers and partners with greater access to its cybersecurity expertise and resources. The approximately 40,000-square-foot facility, which will support employees across several functions, including sales, is three times the size of Fortinet's previous New York City office. The New York City Innovation Hub will include a Fortinet Cloud point of presence, an Executive Briefing Center, a Cybersecurity Training Center, and energy-efficient infrastructure. The Fortinet Cloud point of presence builds on Fortinet's global point of presence network, expanding reach while accelerating investments in AI technology delivery. Powered by Fortinet's custom ASIC technology, the facility delivers high-performance security processing, an elevated user experience, and significant cost savings for customers. Fortinet replaced aging electrical and mechanical infrastructure with equipment designed to higher energy-efficiency standards. The building will also use heat recovery from its data center to help heat other areas of the facility, part of Fortinet's broader sustainability efforts. The New York City location builds on Fortinet's growing network of Innovation Hubs worldwide, including Chicago, Atlanta, London, Sydney, and other strategic markets.
