Third Federal Bank Net Interest Income Increases to $81.4 Million
Net interest income increased $3.6 million, or 4.6%, to $81.4 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 from $77.8 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2026. This increase was primarily attributable to a nine basis point increase in the yield on interest-earning assets, primarily loans, partially offset by a five basis point increase in the cost of interest-bearing liabilities. The interest rate spread for the quarter improved by four basis points over the prior quarter to 1.58%, while the net interest margin increased six basis points to 1.90%. "I'm proud to share that Third Federal had record earnings of $30.5 million in the third quarter," said Chairman and CEO Marc A. Stefanski. "First mortgage originations were more than $600 million; our net interest margin increased to 1.90%, and we maintained a Tier 1 capital ratio of 10.72%. And thanks to the hard work of our dedicated associates, we successfully upgraded our primary banking system to support our company and our customers today, and in the future."
Company Reports Net Interest Income Increase to $77.8 Million for Q1
Net interest income increased $2.1 million, or 2.8%, to $77.8 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2026 from $75.7 million for the quarter ended December 31, 2025. For the quarter ended March 31, 2026, the Company did not record a provision for credit losses whereas a $1.0 million release of provision was recorded for the quarter ended December 31, 2025.
TFS Financial CFO Weil to Retire in January 2027
In a regulatory filing, the company stated: "TFS Financial announced that Meredith S. Weil, a member of the Board of Directors and Chief Financial Officer, will retire from her employment and her position on the Board effective January 2027. The Company further reported that James E. LaRocca will join the Company as Vice President and as Finance and Accounting Officer of Third Federal on June 29, 2026. It is anticipated that he will succeed Ms. Weil as Chief Financial Officer of the Company upon her retirement. Mr. LaRocca most recently held the role of Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Westfield Bank in Westfield Center, Ohio. He joined Westfield in 2010 and has served in multiple leadership positions within the accounting and finance departments. Mr. LaRocca is a certified public accountant registered in the state of Ohio."
Third Federal Partners with Clearstead to Offer Wealth Management Services
Third Federal is partnering with Clearstead Advisory Solutions to provide access to wealth management services, including investment management, retirement guidance, and financial planning, to its customers across the country. Introductions to Clearstead Advisory Solutions are now being offered to all Third Federal customers in the markets the company serves. Third Federal customers now have access to wealth management services from a trusted name among financial advisory firms, during a time when more and more people need support managing their assets before and after retirement.
Company's Net Interest Income Increases by $7.4 Million
"We have had a positive start to our fiscal year as we quickly adapted to three recent Fed rate cuts," said Chairman and CEO Marc A. Stefanski. "Our net interest income increased by $7.4 million over the same period in 2025, and we continue to effectively navigate competition for savings customers while also managing our margin. Our Tier 1 capital ratio of 10.75%, demonstrates our strength and stability as we consistently exceed the amount considered well capitalized."
