S&P 500 Up 2.6% in August, Strong Gains in Tech Stocks

S&P 500 concluded August up 2.6%, though the bulk of the gains for the benchmark index were made in the first week of the month. Strong gains in the Software space helped support Technology - the second best performing sector in August after Materials -  while rate-sensitive sectors like Real Estate underperformed. The narrative during Monday's session was dominated by evolving macro themes related to the Middle East and monetary policy expectations.  Broader markets fell as Energy  outperforming, while Communication Services paced the decliners. Renewed U.S.-Iran fighting saw WTI Crude oil prices breach $86 per barrel for the second consecutive rising session, supporting concerns that inflation will produce higher-for-longer interest rates.  To that end, fed funds futures are now pricing in a 65% chance of a Fed rate hike in September. Expectations for a two 25bps rate hike scenario this year are now at 50%, up from 30% prior to Fed Chair Warsh's speech from Jackson Hole on Friday.  10-year Treasury yield has also risen to 4.75% - a multi-month high.In the opening hour of the evening session equity futures are mixed, with S&P e-minis flat just above 7,700 and NASDAQ 100 marginally lower, below 29,500.  In commodities outside Energy, Friday's US dollar strength has weighed on precious metals, as Gold has pulled back below $4,500 and Silver briefly fell below $66 per ounce in today's session.Check out this evening's top movers from around Wall Street, compiled by The Fly.HIGHER -Duolingoup 3.6% after Evercore upgrade to Outperform, doubling of price target to $210Akamai Technologiesup 2.1% after upgrade to Overweight at Piper SandlerDell Technologiesup 1.0% after being started at Hold at Deutsche BankLOWER -Brenmiller Energydown 18.6% after selling stock for holdersSciSparcdown 3.5% after update on SCI-210 trial enrollmentKyivstar GroupLtd. down 1.6% after selling stock for holders

SciSparc Advances NeuroThera SCI-210 Clinical Trial Enrollment

SciSparc announced that NeuroThera Labs continued advancement in participant enrollment for the clinical trial assessing NeuroThera's SCI-210 treatment for symptoms associated with autism spectrum disorder, or ASD. The clinical trial, conducted at Soroka Medical Center in Israel, is a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study evaluating the safety and efficacy of SCI-210 in children diagnosed with ASD. To date, 26 children have been enrolled, marking progress toward the planned total of 60 children between the ages of five and 18, each of whom will receive treatment over a 20-week period. SCI-210 is an innovative proprietary combination of cannabidiol and CannAmide, NeuroThera's Palmitoylethanolamide-based proprietary formulation. The treatment is being assessed for its ability to alleviate symptoms associated with ASD and to determine whether the dual-compound approach offers advantages beyond CBD monotherapy. The study is designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of SCI-210 compared with CBD monotherapy. The trial's primary efficacy endpoints include the Aberrant Behavior Checklist-Community parent questionnaire, the Clinical Global Impressions-Improvement assessment conducted by a clinician, and determination of the optimal therapeutic dose. Subject to the successful completion of the clinical development program and receipt of applicable regulatory approvals, NeuroThera intends to pursue the commercialization of SCI-210, initially in Israel and subsequently in additional markets.

SciSparc Subsidiary and Clearmind File New Patent Application

SciSparc (SPRC) announced that its subsidiary, NeuroThera Labs, and Clearmind Medicine (CMND) have published a U.S. patent application covering a novel combination of MDMA and N-acylethanolamines, such as palmitoylethanolamide, or PEA, for use in methods of treating post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, anxiety, and eating disorders. The publication marks a significant intellectual property milestone resulting from the ongoing collaboration between NeuroThera and Clearmind. Through this collaboration, NeuroThera's PEA technology is integrated into Clearmind's psychedelic-derived therapeutic programs, contributing to a joint intellectual property portfolio that includes thirteen published patent applications generated through the NeuroThera-Clearmind collaboration globally. The newly published application includes embodiments relating to the potential use of PEA in combination with MDMA, including potential effects on MDMA's therapeutic potency, required dosing, associated side effects and therapeutic window. On July 14, the FDA finalized its guidance, "Psychedelic Drugs: Considerations for Clinical Investigations." The guidance provides considerations for sponsors developing psychedelic drugs for medical conditions, including psychiatric disorders and substance use disorders. The FDA's final guidance explicitly includes MDMA within its definition of psychedelic drugs, describing the category as including classic psychedelics as well as "entactogens or empathogens such as 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine."
