Reports Q3 loan loss provision $12.2M vs. $12.0M last year.
Simmons Reports Q3 Revenue of $251.2M
Reports Q3 revenue $251.2M, consensus $253.46M. Jay Brogdon, Simmons' President and CEO, commented on third quarter 2026 results: "The third quarter showcased our commitment to delivering sustainable long-term value through focused execution of several strategic initiatives designed to improve profitability and further optimize our balance sheet. We continue to achieve reductions in noninterest expenses as well as back-book loans and deposits with low relationship value. Combined with disciplined loan and deposit pricing, these initiatives drove net interest margin expansion of 8 basis points to 3.92%, and drove meaningful improvements in our adjusted ROAA and adjusted ROTCE performance. Credit quality metrics remained relatively stable during the quarter, as we actively manage legacy credits and pursue early identification of potential problems. We continue strengthening reserves to buffer our already strong capital levels. As we look to the fourth quarter and beyond, we will remain relentless in our commitment to the principles of generating sound and profitable growth. By simplifying and focusing our business, we have gained efficiencies that will more than fund ongoing investments that support high-value organic growth. We plan to further outline our strategic objectives and future financial targets at our upcoming Investor Day in December."
Simmons First National Closes 26 Branches
Simmons First National said it decided to close 26 Simmons Bank branches across its six-state footprint. It said, "The Company's decision was made as part of a broader review of the Company's retail network strategy, and the Branch Closures are intended to align Simmons Bank's branch network with evolving customer preferences while maintaining customer access, preserving service levels, and continuing to provide advice, guidance, and financial solutions through nearby branches and other banking channels." The company anticipates retaining 70% of the impacted associates through placement in other branch locations or alternative positions. In connection with the closures, Simmons expects to incur aggregate pre-tax expenses in an estimated range of approximately $20M to $23M.
Simmons Reports Q2 Revenue of $248.6M
Reports Q2 revenue $248.6M, consensus $250.98M. "Simmons delivered continued expansion in returns in Q2, reflecting revenue growth coupled with disciplined expense control. Committed loan production reached $1.8B, its highest quarterly level in almost four years, partially offset by expected paydowns, while our focus on disciplined loan and deposit pricing supported a stable net interest margin. Underlying trends in asset quality remain constructive, with net charge-offs of 20 basis points, provision expense exceeding net charge-offs by $8.3M and continued positive trends in classified and criticized loans, even as we manage a single relationship that fully migrated to nonperforming in Q2. During the quarter, the continued execution of efficiency initiatives more than funded our investments in the business, reflecting ongoing progress of our continuous improvement mindset. These actions included the elimination of certain positions and further optimization of our real estate footprint through meaningful square footage reductions. As we look to the remainder of the year, we expect to sharpen our focus on the disciplined execution of these types of initiatives, which we believe will more than fund additional investments designed to further enhance the quality and sustainability of our organic growth outlook."
U.S. Stocks Hit New Highs, Energy Sector Leads
With U.S.-Iran ceasefire holding and ongoing optimism regarding a second round of diplomacy between the two sides, U.S. equities continued to make news highs on Thursday, though this time, Energy was the best performing sector as investors bought the recent dip in the oil patch. Mid-cap drillers like Sable Offshoreand Patternson-UTIwere especially well bid with 11% and 5% gains respectively while mega-caps - Exxon Mobil, Shell, and Chevron- each rallied about 2%. Healthcare was the worst performing sector in the S&P 500 amid emboldened animal spirits boosting higher-beta areas of the market at the expense of the defensive sectors. In the opening hour of the evening session, S&P e-minis are up another decimal point at 7,085, with Nasdaq 100 trading flat. In commodities, June - now the active contract for WTI Crude Oil - is below $90 per barrel while May is trading above $93. The steepening backwardation in energy - lower prices down the timeline curve - reflects the extent to which the markets are anticipating a swift normalization of the geopolitical premium.Check out this evening's top movers from around Wall Street, compiled by The Fly.HIGHER AFTER EARNINGS -Cohen & Steersup 0.6%ALSO HIGHER -STMicroelectronics N.V.up 1.3% after being upgraded to Outperform at MizuhoTexas Instrumentsup 1.2% after being upgraded to Neutral at MizuhoF.N.B.
