Grifols Completes Clinical Trial of SPARTA
Grifols announced the completion of the clinical portion of SPARTA, its phase 3 outcomes study evaluating the clinical efficacy and safety of two dose regimens of Prolastin-C in patients with emphysema associated with alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, also known as alpha-1. The last patient in the trial completed their final study visit last week. This milestone, known as "last patient, last visit" signifies completion of follow-up for all 345 enrolled participants. Topline results are expected by the end of this year.
Grifols Confirms No Change to EXCELL Phase III Trial Timeline
Grifols issued the following statement on the EXCELL Phase 3 trial timeline: "We have noted the recent Bloomberg article referring to the EXCELL Phase III trial timeline on ClinicalTrials.gov. The timeline currently reflected on the website is consistent with what was presented at our Capital Markets Day in February 2025, where completion was already envisaged in 2029. As such, this does not represent a new development or a delay to previously communicated guidance. Please find attached slide 91 attached below from our Capital Markets Day presentation. The full presentation is also available on our website."
Grifols Begins Two Phase 3 Trials
Grifols announced that the first patients have been dosed in two separate Phase 3 trials aiming to expand the U.S. labels for its signature immunoglobulin therapeutics, Gamunex-C, an intravenous immunoglobulin, and Xembify, its subcutaneous immunoglobulin.
Grifols Launches New Fibrinogen Concentrate in the U.S.
Grifols announced the U.S. launch of its new fibrinogen concentrate. Approved by the FDA in December for the treatment of acute bleeding episodes in pediatric and adult patients with congenital fibrinogen deficiency, including hypo- or afibrinogenemia, Fesilty is now available in the U.S. Fesilty is not indicated for dysfibrinogenemia.
Grifols Reports Q1 Revenue of €1.7B, Up 3.3% YoY
Reports Q1 total revenue EUR 1.7B, up 3.3% y/y cc. Group profit increased to EUR 73M in the first quarter, up 21.9% year-on-year. Nacho Abia, CEO of Grifols, said: "We started the year delivering performance in line with our expectations and reassured that we are on track to achieve our guidance for the full-year 2026 as we continue to build momentum over the course of the year. These results were achieved in a complex geopolitical and macroeconomic environment, marked by persistent uncertainties. In this context, these results underscore both the resilience of our business and the strength of our underlying fundamentals."
