Green Plains Signs Agreement to Transfer $250M Clean Fuel Tax Credits

Green Plains announced an agreement for the transfer of Clean Fuel Production Tax Credits, also known as 45Z tax credits, generated across Green Plains' operating facilities, all of which are expected to qualify under the program. The agreement provides for the transfer of a minimum of $250M of 45Z credits expected to be generated in 2026, and the buyers will purchase additional credits up to a total of $325M, with an option to purchase an additional $30M, subject to their generation and availability. The value is based on anticipated credit generation under current carbon intensity scores across the Green Plains fleet and does not assume incremental investment in additional low-carbon initiatives or future CI improvements, which could drive further credit generation and value. Green Plains will receive $140M of cash in the fourth quarter for 45Z tax credits generated through June 30, 2026. Credits generated in the third and fourth quarters of 2026 will be transferred and monetized in the first half of 2027, following completion of required compliance reporting and satisfaction of applicable closing conditions.

Green Plains Launches Farm Forward Initiative, Farmers Eligible for $0.05 to $0.25 Premium per Bushel

Green Plains announced the launch of Farm Forward, a new initiative designed to turn policy innovation into farmer opportunity. Recent biofuels policy developments have created new opportunities to recognize qualifying farming practices and the role they play in producing lower carbon intensity feedstocks. Farm Forward provides a framework for participating farmers to share in the value created through regenerative agriculture practices while supporting and strengthening rural communities. Participating growers may be eligible to earn premiums ranging from $0.05 to $0.25 per qualifying bushel, with five performance bands designed to create multiple opportunities to maximize value returned to producers. Farm Forward is designed to help participating growers document qualifying practices and share in the resulting value, while helping Green Plains capture additional value from the production of lower carbon intensity fuels. The program will initially be offered at Green Plains' three Nebraska locations, with the potential to expand to other locations as the program develops.

Commissioned in 2008, the facility was one of the first production assets in the Green Plains fleet and remains an important economic driver for Dickinson County and the surrounding region. Today, the facility employs nearly 50 team members and supports a network of local farmers, grain haulers, contractors, and agribusiness partners throughout Northwest Iowa and Southwest Minnesota.
