Eversource and Dartmouth Engineering Awarded $47.7M by DOE
Eversource and Dartmouth Engineering have been selected by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Electricity under its Speed to Power program for an innovative initiative designed to improve reliability and keep costs as low as possible for customers. Referred to as the Dynamic Rating Enhancement Advancements and Modernization initiative, the collaboration between Eversource and Dartmouth Engineering will leverage grid-enhancing technologies to increase the capacity of the existing electric grid, enhance system resiliency, and help lower costs for customers. The partnership will continue as Eversource and Dartmouth Engineering will work with DOE through the award negotiation process to further develop and demonstrate how dynamic line rating technology can increase transmission capacity, strengthen reliability and support evolving energy demands across the region with an emphasis on affordability for customers. Pending successful negotiations and execution of a final award agreement, the award could represent approximately $47.7M in funding for the initiative, which would be expected to begin in 2027. Eversource's DREAM initiative was one of 31 projects selected across 26 states.
Eversource Q2 Revenue at $2.9B, Below Consensus
Reports Q2 revenue $2.9B, consensus $2.97B. The company said, "During the second quarter, we completed our strategic divestiture of Aquarion Water, further strengthening our balance sheet and positioning Eversource for continued success as a pure-play regulated electric and natural gas delivery company. This focused strategy has already created new opportunities, including our preliminary selection by ISO-NE to develop critical transmission infrastructure that will bring power from northern Maine to southern New England. We are very pleased that the incumbent utilities have been selected for this important project. As we enter the second half of the year, our priorities remain clear: operating safely and efficiently, delivering reliable service to our customers, executing on our strategic investments and maintaining the financial strength that supports long-term value creation."
Eversource Reaffirms 2026 EPS Guidance of $4.57 to $4.72
Eversource said, "The Company reaffirms its revised earnings guidance for 2026 non-GAAP recurring earnings of between $4.57 per share1 and $4.72 per share1, which includes the impact of the prospective reduction to the transmission ROE rate resulting from the March 2026 FERC order and the absence of Aquarion earnings in the second half of the year. It also reaffirms its cumulative long-term earnings per share growth rate within the range of 5 to 7 percent through 2030, using the adjusted 2026 non-GAAP earnings guidance midpoint of $4.65 per share as the base year. Eversource expects annual earnings growth towards the upper half of its long-term guidance by 2028."
Eversource and National Grid Jointly Test Vehicle-to-Grid Capabilities
Eversource (ES), National Grid (NGG), EnergyHub (ALRM), Sunrun (RUN), and The Mobility House announced a joint effort to test vehicle-to-grid capabilities in Massachusetts. Under this effort, qualifying residential customers of Eversource and National Grid in Massachusetts will be able to enroll their V2G-capable electric vehicles in ConnectedSolutions. The existing ConnectedSolutions program uses flexible capacity from thermostats, batteries, and commercial and industrial resources to reduce grid strain, and Eversource and National Grid will be leveraging those capabilities to test how they apply to V2G.
Eversource Energy Q1 Revenue $4.5B Beats Expectations
Reports Q1 revenue $4.5B, consensus $4.33B. "Eversource Energy's first quarter performance was highlighted by our team's strong response to a historic Nor'easter that brought blizzard conditions, record snowfall, and a significant number of power outages to our service area," said Joe Nolan, CEO. "Also, in the quarter, we were very disappointed with FERC's arbitrary and flawed ROE reduction, especially at a time when New England needs significant transmission investments to bring incremental generation in the region that would lower costs for customers. Eversource will continue to vigorously pursue all actions against punitive decisions imposed by our regulators that jeopardize our ability to complete this critical work for customers."
