AXIS Capital Acquires Renewal Rights to Dual North America Excess Liability Business
AXIS Capital announced it has agreed to acquire the renewal rights to the excess liability business of Dual North America, the specialist underwriting arm of Howden Group.

Reports Q2 revenue $1.75B, consensus $1.72B. The company said, "AXIS continued to generate consistent, profitable growth in the second quarter, amidst an evolving risk landscape impacted by the Middle East conflict and further transitioning market conditions. Our results were highlighted by 14.3% annualized operating return-on-equity, 15% year-over-year increase in book value per diluted common share, and gross premiums written of $2.7 billion, up by 6% over the prior year."

Reports Q1 revenue $1.64B, consensus $1.81B. The company said, "AXIS began 2026 building on the profitable growth that has defined our performance over the past three years. In the quarter, we produced gross premiums written of $3.1 billion, which represents an 11% increase year-over-year, with an 89.8% combined ratio. This translates to a 17.7% annualized operating return on average common equity, with 17.6% diluted book value per share growth over the past twelve months."
Axis Capital Appoints Matthew Kirk as CFO
Axis Capital announced that Matthew Kirk has assumed the role of CFO at Axis, effective March 31, completing a planned leadership transition, which was first announced on August 14. Kirk reports directly to Axis president and CEO Vince Tizzio, serves on the company's executive committee, and is based in New York. In light of the transition of the CFO duties, Vogt will be departing Axis timed to Kirk's appointment and will no longer stay on as a strategic advisor through year-end as had been previously announced.

Reports Q4 revenue $1.73B, consensus $1.33B. The company said, "The fourth quarter capped an outstanding year for AXIS as we continued to drive sustained profitable growth while executing on our specialty strategy. In 2025, we delivered on our stated goals, producing an 18% year-over-year increase in diluted book value per common share, 18.1% operating ROE, 89.8% combined ratio, and record gross premiums written of $9.6 billion, up 7% over the prior year. Our insurance business generated excellent results, highlighted by a 9% year-over-year increase in gross premiums written at $7.2 billion and an 86.1% combined ratio. A key driver was our new and expanded business lines, which we believe have significant upside potential. We also saw steady bottom-line performance from our targeted reinsurance business, which produced a 92.6% combined ratio for the year. We are now operating consistently as One AXIS, capitalizing on the best opportunities across our chosen markets, generating efficiency gains through our How We Work program, and sharpening our market position as a differentiated specialty leader."
