Amerant Bancorp Appoints Carlos Iafigliola as CEO
Amerant Bancorp announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Carlos Iafigliola as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective May 18, 2026. Iafigliola has also been appointed President and CEO of Amerant Bank N.A., the company's main operating subsidiary. Iafigliola has served as Interim Chief Executive Officer since November 2025. Odilon Almeida, Chair of the Board, commented, "Following a comprehensive search process, the Board determined that Carlos is the right executive to lead Amerant into its next phase of value creation. With more than 20 years at the Company, including serving as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer since Amerant became a public company, Carlos has consistently demonstrated deep knowledge of our business, disciplined execution, and unwavering commitment to our customers, team members, and shareholders. He has also provided strong and effective leadership as Interim Chief Executive Officer. The Board has full confidence in Carlos and his ability to advance our strategic priorities, further strengthen our franchise, and drive sustainable long-term value for our shareholders."
Amerant's Q1 Net Income Meets Expectations
"Amerant's first quarter results reflect continued momentum in executing our strategic plan as we strengthen credit quality and position the bank for sustainable, long-term growth," stated Carlos Iafigliola, SEVP and Interim CEO. "During the quarter, we demonstrated proactive credit risk management, which led to balanced portfolio actions. We also continued to optimize our loan portfolio, including exiting certain large-exposure, out-of-footprint and criticized loans. In addition, we've maintained our focus on operational efficiency, delivering net income in line with our guidance, primarily driven by better than expected cost-savings and strong growth in lower-cost international deposits."
Amerant Bank Appoints Tony Eelman as Chief Product Officer
Amerant Bank announced the appointment of Tony Eelman as EVP, Chief Product Officer. A senior financial services and mortgage-banking executive will now lead enterprise product strategy across the bank's financial services and program-based lending platforms. In his new role, Eelman will focus on aligning product design, leveraging on technology, and progressing go-to-market strategy to deliver differentiated, client-centric solutions across Amerant's consumer and commercial offerings.Eelman previously served as President of Amerant Mortgage, the Bank's wholly owned mortgage subsidiary.
