This is insane!!! 🤯 Three people with Claude subscriptions just walked into OpenAI. Not a nation-state. Not even OpenAI's own red team finding the issue first. Just three people. Let me explain how crazy this timeline actually is. They found a flaw in OpenAI's own support forum: an outdated photo decoding library that no one had bothered to flag as "security critical." Upload a corrupted image file. Get code running on OpenAI's own infrastructure. They had Claude Opus 4.8 turn it into a real exploit. It couldn't. Memory protections stopped it every time. That same night, Anthropic released a new model. Opus 5. They gave it the exact same flaw. A few hours later, it worked. The forum login system was directly connected to real ChatGPT and Codex accounts. Including OpenAI employee accounts. That meant Gmail, Slack, GitHub, Google Drive, all connected through Codex, suddenly became reachable too. To prove they weren't lying, they created a pull request in OpenAI's actual internal codebase. A company worth hundreds of billions of dollars, and three researchers just casually submitted code to its private repository, just to prove the point. 72 hours. From finding the flaw to getting internal access. And they did it all using the AI model from OpenAI's biggest competitor. What they told The Wall Street Journal says it better than I can: "We're just three people with Claude and Codex subscriptions." Read that again. This isn't a nation-state hacking group talking. This is three people with a laptop and a $200 monthly bill, casually walking into one of the most valuable companies on Earth. Reports say the same flaw also affected Slack, Meta, Zoom, Shopify, and GitHub Enterprise. No one has even finished counting all the companies affected. If AI in the hands of three researchers acting in good faith can do this, imagine what it could do in the hands of someone acting in bad faith.
