Workday Partners with Anthropic to Integrate AI Platforms
Workday and Anthropic announced a new partnership that connects their platforms and agentic experiences, bringing Claude's frontier reasoning together with Sana AI agents and Workday's data and business context in HR and finance. The experience will come to life in either Sana, Workday's agentic experience and orchestration layer, or in Claude, depending on the work being done. With the new partnership, people can start work in Claude or in Sana, with their context and controls intact in each. Claude and Sana exchange information and tasks through the Model Context Protocol, an open standard, so work carries forward rather than starting over. Joint customers will also be able to build their own agents directly in Claude using Workday Agent-Ready Tools. Whichever way they come in, the rules stay anchored in Workday, and admins connect once, with no new permission model to build and no per-user setup. Anthropic is a Workday customer, with its finance and people operations on Workday Financials and Workday Human Capital Management. Workday builds with Claude, too. Sana in Claude plugin is now available to early access customers and expected to be generally available in late 2026.
Workday Signs Agreement to Acquire C1.ai
Workday has signed a definitive agreement to acquire C1.ai, an agentic identity platform for people and agents. C1.ai connects to the systems a business runs on - from email and CRM to code repositories, finance systems, and cloud infrastructure - giving each person and agent access and removing it the moment it's no longer needed. Organizations need to know who and what has access, why they have it, and when to remove it. Without those controls, AI agents can become lawless, creating security and compliance risks across the business. The transaction is expected to close in Q4 of Workday's FY27, ending January 31, 2027, subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions.
