HII Awarded $2.2B Task Order to Support Southern Command
HII announced that its Mission Technologies division has been awarded a $2.2B task order to deliver advanced Surveillance, Tracking, Intelligence, Network Services, Global Reconnaissance, Analysis, and Interceptions in support of the U.S. Southern Command. STRINGRAI will enhance SOUTHCOM's ability to detect, monitor, and disrupt illicit activity across Central America, South America, and the Caribbean, while strengthening integrated intelligence and reconnaissance capabilities essential to defending the U.S. homeland and national interests. HII will lead an integrated team to provide SOUTHCOM and partner nations with a comprehensive suite of intelligence gathering capabilities, advanced technologies and adaptable innovative all-domain platforms for high-level operational readiness and preparedness.
HII Signs $900M Production Agreements with GrayMatter and Path Robotics
HII announced long-term performance-based production agreements with High-Yield Production Robotics team members GrayMatter Robotics and Path Robotics. The signed agreements are designed to accelerate the development and deployment of advanced physical AI automation across U.S. Navy shipbuilding programs, including aircraft carriers, submarines, destroyers, amphibious ships, future frigates and unmanned surface vessels, HII said. Under the agreements, HII intends to award up to $900M in total shipbuilding work to Path Robotics and GrayMatter Robotics across seven years, contingent on the two companies meeting clearly defined technology and manufacturing readiness, and performance milestones outlined in the agreements.
HII and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Advance Strategic Partnership
HII and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries are advancing their strategic partnership with a pilot program to implement additional intelligent mechanized welding equipment at HII's Ingalls Shipbuilding division, expanding Ingalls' existing automation and technology strategy. The pilot is a step in advancing U.S.-Korea shipbuilding cooperation, as outlined in a 2025 memorandum of understanding between the two companies. The pilot deploys intelligent mechanized welding systems in unit-fabrication areas that currently rely predominantly on manual welding.

"We continued to make good progress on our 2026 operational initiatives, with plans in place to achieve our shipbuilding throughput improvement goal of 15%. Given the significant shipbuilding demand and our proven ability to drive higher throughput, we are pleased to increase our top line expectations for the full year while lifting the lower end of our margin expectations as we remain focused on execution," said Chris Kastner, HII's president and CEO.
HII Awarded Navy Lionfish Contract Worth Over $347M
HII has been awarded an option year production contract for the U.S. Navy's next-generation program of record, the Lionfish small unmanned undersea vehicle. Lionfish is based on HII's commercial REMUS 300 platform, originally developed as part of a rapid prototyping initiative in collaboration with the U.S. Navy and the Defense Innovation Unit. This latest option year contract continues to build the momentum of the Lionfish program, which marked a major production milestone at the close of 2025 with the completion of the 42nd Lionfish vehicle at HII's Pocasset facility. The five-year program could scale to as many as 200 vehicles, with a total contract value exceeding $347M.
