3D Systems Partners with Elmet Technologies to Deploy Metal Additive Manufacturing Machine
3D Systems (DDD) announced that Elmet Technologies (ELMT) is deploying the DMP Flex 350 Triple metal additive manufacturing machine for the rapid production of advanced aerospace parts for hypersonic vehicles. Utilizing C103 material, the Elmet team expects to rapidly qualify and certify the system to begin production in 2026. Elmet Technologies has spent the last 8 years with 3D Systems' Application Innovation Group developing processing parameters for C103 material, a niobium-based alloy designed for extreme high-temperature and aerospace applications. Elmet intends to use the system for the production of large heat exchangers for hypersonic vehicles. Elmet selected the printer for its low oxygen environment, larger build size, three-laser system for large production volumes, compatibility with Elmet's in-house materials, and anticipated fast qualification and certification. Elmet anticipates NASA 6030 certification a few months after initial qualification. "This collaboration with Elmet is a standout example of using metal additive manufacturing to create new advantages in aerospace design and production," said Mike Shepard, VP of aerospace and defense, 3D Systems. "The low oxygen architecture of our DMP series metal additive machines is ideal for manufacture of complex components from highly reactive metals, like C103 and other refractory alloys."
Elmet Exercises Option to Purchase 20M Shares of EQ Resources
Elmet announced it has exercised its option to purchase 20M ordinary shares of EQ Resources as part of a previously announced strategic collaboration and long-term offtake contract between the two companies.
