EPA Announces Repeal of Most Greenhouse Gas Requirements

At the G20 Energy Abundance Ministerial on Monday in Houston, Texas, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin announced the repeal of the majority of the Biden administration's greenhouse gas requirements for U.S. power plants, an action the agency projects will save $310B, and proposed rescinding every remaining greenhouse gas standard for the power sector. If finalized, the new proposal would save an additional $370M in direct compliance costs, in addition to the billions more American families and businesses can expect to see saved across the economy, the EPA said. "The EPA's final rule is expected to unleash the full potential of America's vast energy resources, including coal and natural gas. Coal production for power sector use is expected to increase by more than 10 times." Trump Announces $700M Investment in U.S. Coal Industry

U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. will invest $700M in the U.S. coal industry using emergency powers under the Defense Production Act. The investments will be in coal plants and mines in West Virginia, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, North Dakota, Wyoming, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, New Mexico, Alaska, and Maryland. U.S. EPA to Loosen Emission Regulations for Coal Plants
