Biohaven Enters Global Licensing Agreement with SK Biopharmaceuticals
H.C. Wainwright notes that Biohaven (BHVN) announced a global licensing and collaboration agreement granting SK Biopharmaceuticals an exclusive worldwide license to its Kv7 ion channel platform, led by opakalim, in Phase 2/3 development for focal epilepsy. With Xenon's (XENE) azetukalner reporting such strong data in the Phase 3 XTOLE-2 study, Biohaven likely recognized that there was real risk that opakalim didn't convincingly demonstrate a differentiated profile, which would have made it hard to finance on attractive terms, the firm says. Wainwright has a Neutral rating on Biohaven with a price target of $10.

Biohaven and SK Biopharmaceuticals Enter Strategic Collaboration Agreement
Biohaven and SK Biopharmaceuticals announced a strategic global licensing and collaboration agreement under which SK Biopharmaceuticals will obtain an exclusive worldwide license to Biohaven's Kv7 ion channel platform, led by opakalim, a next-generation, selective Kv7.2/7.3 potassium channel activator in Phase 2/3 development for focal epilepsy, with RISE3 trial topline results expected in 2H26. Following the close of the transaction, the companies will collaborate to advance opakalim through development and FDA approval, combining Biohaven's innovative Kv7 platform with SK Biopharmaceuticals' global development and regulatory capabilities and its proven commercial track record of bringing antiseizure medicines to patients worldwide. Under the terms of the agreement, SK Biopharmaceuticals to make upfront and milestone payments up to $795M related to the Kv7 platform plus tiered royalties to Biohaven ranging from the mid-teens to low twenties on U.S. net sales of opakalim. Biohaven will receive $400M in cash consideration, consisting of $350M payable at closing and an additional $50M payable in 2027, and Biohaven is eligible to receive an additional $150M in development and regulatory milestone payments plus royalties on global net sales of opakalim. In addition, SK Biopharmaceuticals will assume responsibility for Kv7 program costs going forward under the terms of the agreement, including certain specified Knopp Biosciences and Kv7 future milestone obligations totaling $245M and mid-single digit royalty obligations to Knopp Biosciences.
Biohaven and Yale Win Against Avilar, Awarded $4 Million
Biohaven and Yale University announced that a federal jury in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware returned a verdict in their favor in the trade secret misappropriation and breach of contract litigation against Avilar Therapeutics and RA Capital. The jury found that Avilar and RA Capital willfully and maliciously misappropriated a Yale trade secret relating to its "MODA" targeted protein degradation platform, and that RA Capital separately breached its 2019 confidentiality agreement with Yale. The jury awarded Yale and Biohaven a combined $4M in damages - $2M to Yale for RA Capital's breach of contract, and $1M each to Yale and Biohaven for trade secret misappropriation.
Biohaven to Present New Data on BHV-1530 at ESMO 2026
Biohaven announced that new data on BHV-1530, its FGFR3-directed antibody-drug conjugate, or ADC, using a novel topoisomerase I, or TopoIx, payload, will be presented at the European Society for Medical Oncology, or ESMO, Congress 2026, to be held October 23-27 in Madrid, Spain. The new Phase 1 data planned for ESMO will provide a clinically meaningful update to the early Phase 1 data initially disclosed at Biohaven's R&D Day on May 27, 2026. The new data will include signals of clinical activity demonstrated in the ongoing Phase 1, open-label, dose-escalation study of BHV-1530 in patients with advanced solid tumors. The data from May 27 2026, showed early signs of antitumor activity in patients with both FGFR3-altered and wild-type overexpressing tumors, and across multiple tumor types. This included a heavily pretreated patient with FGFR3-TACC3 fusion-positive metastatic urothelial cancer who had progressed on four prior lines of therapy, including Padcev, pembrolizumab, and two FGFR-targeting small molecules. This patient has tolerated BHV-1530 with no FGFR-related toxicity. The data has shown a favorable safety profile, with no dose-limiting toxicities and no FGFR inhibitor-class toxicities, such as hyperphosphatemia, nail disorders, stomatitis, or retinopathy, that commonly constrain dosing and duration of approved FGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors.
