S&P 500 Edges Up, Western Digital Falls 7%

After three days of losses, the S&P 500 eked out modest gains on Wednesday, even though AI CapEx build-out themed areas of the market remained under heavy pressure.  2026 winners such as Seagate, Western Digitaland Dellwere some of the biggest losers in the benchmark, with declines of 8%, 7%, and 7%, respectively.  Enterprise software continued to balance out the recent weakness in the semiconductors, computer hardware, and semi equipment sectors.  Outside of Tech, Industrials was the worst performing sector in the S&P 500, while Basic Materials and Healthcare let the rebound.U.S. Treasury was effective as a "plunge protection" actor in fixed income markets today, announcing that effective September 9th, it will double its operation in purchases of longer-dated treasury securities.  Longer-dated yields caved on the announcement, with the 10-year slipping 5 basis points and the 30-year - which had risen to 19-year highs overnight - down 9 basis points.  Minutes of the Federal Reserve meeting in July did not spoil the Treasury rebound party, even though they revealed that "many participants assessed that policy tightening would likely be necessary if inflation did not decline".In the opening hour of the evening session, sentiment remains upbeat with S&P e-minis up 0.2% and NASDAQ-100 contract up 0.5%.  WTI crude oil continues to reflect the stalemate in the Strait of Hormuz, trading little changed around $84 per barrel.  Also of note in commodities, a weaker U.S. dollar in the wake of the US Treasury announcement has goosed up precious metals to their highest levels since June, with gold prices rising above $4,570 per ounce and silver spiking above $67 per ounce.Check out this evening's top movers from around Wall Street, compiled by The Fly.HIGHER AFTER EARNINGS -Beam Globalup 21.5%Nordsonup 7.6%BILL Holdingsup 2.9%ALSO HIGHER -Aurinia Pharmaceuticalsup 3.8% after settling patent litigation with TevaDOWN AFTER EARNINGS -Wolfspeeddown 9.5%Cotydown 6.6%

Aurinia Settles Patent Litigation with Teva Pharmaceuticals

Aurinia Pharmaceuticals (AUPH) announced that it and its subsidiary, Aurinia Pharma U.S., Inc., have entered into a settlement agreement with Teva Pharmaceuticals Inc. (TEVA) to resolve patent infringement litigation relating to Teva's filing of an Abbreviated New Drug Application seeking to market its generic 7.9 mg voclosporin oral capsules in the United States. Under the terms of the settlement, Teva has stipulated that Aurinia's U.S. Patent Nos. 10,286,036 and 11,622,991 (which expire in December 2037) are enforceable, valid, and would be infringed by commercial sales within the United States of its generic voclosporin product. The settlement further provides that Teva may launch its generic voclosporin product no earlier than December 7, 2036, unless certain defined contingencies occur earlier. Teva's ability to market its generic voclosporin product in the United States will also be contingent on Teva obtaining approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration. Aurinia's related patent infringement actions continue against each of DifGen Pharmaceuticals LLC, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Inc. and its affiliate, Galenicum Health S.L.U., Hikma Pharmaceuticals USA Inc., Lotus Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. and its affiliate, Sandoz Inc., and Zydus Pharmaceuticals (USA) Inc. and its affiliate, in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.

Aurinia Pharmaceuticals Initiates PRESERVE Study

Aurinia Pharmaceuticals announced the initiation of PRESERVE, a Phase 4, multicenter study investigating the combination of LUPKYNIS and belimumab, obinutuzumab or anifrolumab in patients with lupus nephriti. Planned enrollment is approximately 150 patients across approximately 50 sites in the US. The Study's primary endpoint is the proportion of patients achieving complete renal response at 6 months.
